Why?: Because he is made of awesome.
#24 // Chi McBride

And You Are?: Mike Celluci on Blood Ties.
Why?: Welcome back to TV, Mr. Neal. You've been missed.
#22 // Scott Patterson
Last Year // #38 (Change +16)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #20
And You Are?: Gary on Aliens in America.
Why?: He finished his run as the lovable Luke Danes, and started a new show. While, he might not have been the best casting choice for AiA, he's doing very well with it, and it is a quality show to be a part of.
#21 // Josh Holloway
Last Year // #13 (Change -8)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #05
And You Are?: Sawyer on Lost.
Why?: I might not be loving Lost these days, but I do love Holloway's Sawyer, and do look forward to the new season on the off chance it's awesome again.
#20 // Jared Padalecki
Last Year // #18 (Change -2)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #30
And You Are?: Sam Winchester on Supernatural.
Why?: Jared might not have the raw talent Jensen possesses, but my overall opinion of him is that he might be a more fun, easygoing, happy, real person in life. And I respect that. A lot.
#19 // Taylor Kitsch
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights.
Why?: Oh, Timmy. Kitsch brings such a vulnerable side to his Riggins that just seeing him on the screen breaks my heart a good deal of the time. That's talent.
#18 // Michael Urie
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Marc St. James on Ugly Betty.
Why?: So funny! Man, he's a riot.
#17 // Jason Segel
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // 2005; #49
And You Are?: Marshall on How I Met Your Mother.
Why?: Segel always brings such a real quality to his characters. From Nick to Marshall, he's a delight. I loved him in Knocked Up and can't wait for his first major leading role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall next year.
#16 // Adam Baldwin
Last Year // #34 (Change +18)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #12
And You Are?: John Casey on Chuck.
Why?: There are few actors I love as much as Adam Baldwin. He's a constant, steady addition to any project and I'm so glad he's back in a GOOD show this fall.
#15 // Lee Pace
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Ned on Pushing Daisies.
Why?: Pace brings such an awkwardness in his own skin to PD's Ned that it's effing amazing. I really need to go back and rewatch Wonderfalls now that I have such an affinity for him.
#14 // David Boreanaz
Last Year // #09 (Change -5)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #18
And You Are?: Special Agent Seeley Booth on Bones.
Why?: Bones is one of the few shows as of late that have stayed as good as they've been in the past and a lot of that is thanks to Boreanaz's performances as Booth.
#13 // Zachary Levi
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Chuck Bartowski on Chuck.
Why?: Because, right now, he is King of the Geek right now and I love him for it.
#12 // Matthew Fox
Last Year // #03 (Change -9)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #02
And You Are?: Dr. Jack Shephard on Lost.
Why?: Again, last year was not a good year for my Lostie love. I have hopes for the next season, because there are characters there, like Fox's crytastic Jack that I do love deeply.
#11 // Donal Logue
Last Year // #22 (Change +11)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Eugene Gurkin on The Knights of Prosperity.
Why?: I adore Donal in pretty much everything I've ever seen him in, and tKoP was no different. I wish it had made it, I really do.
#10 // Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Last Year // #05 (Change -5)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: PapaDean on Supernatural; Denny on Grey's Anatomy
Why?: I think we saw the last of Denny on GA, and maybe even the last of PapaDean on SPN in 2007. And both of those ideas make me sad, and yet, it only means that JDM will be working more elsewhere, and that makes me happy. I can't wait to see the slew of movies he has in the works. Love him.
#09 // Bret Harrison
Last Year // #20 (Change +11)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Sam on The Loop and Reaper
Why?: I adore this kid, and I'm so happy he's been getting his own series offers here lately, because he was such a delight on Grounded For Life.
#08 // Kyle Chandler
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Coach Taylor on Friday Night Lights
Why?: Oh my, who doesn't love Chandler as real man Coach Taylor? Wowza.
#07 // Kevin Alejandro
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Winston on Drive; Santos on Ugly Betty
Why?: Alejandro may have been my favorite new find of 2007, by far. I loved him on both shows, immensely, and can only hope he has his own creative vehicle soon. And? Such. Pretty. Eyes.
#06 // TJ Thyne
Last Year // #35 (Change +29)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Hodgins on Bones
Why?: Thyne is so perfect on Bones, he really fleshes out a character that could have fell completely flat in the wrong hands.
#05 // Neil Patrick Harris
Last Year // #19 (Change +14)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #35
And You Are?: Barney on How I Met Your Mother
Why?: Harris just might be bringing us the most consistently funny character on sitcom television today. And I love him for it.
#04 // Justin Chambers
Last Year // #06 (Change +2)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #35
And You Are?: Dr. Alex Karev on Grey's Anatomy
Why?: Through the past year we've gotten to see even more of Alex's complex personality, and Chambers is really to credit here for giving his character so much depth.
#03 // Christian Kane
Last Year // #07 (Change +4)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #27
And You Are?: Christian Fucking Kane, bitches.
Why?: Okay, so we haven't seen much of him on small screen (or the big screen) this year. That's okay, there's always the music. And the new album they've been working on, since, uh, last year. I guess it's kinda weird he's so high on the list for doing so little out front and center this year. That's okay, I guess. I can be patient. Especially since I didn't even realize how little of him I'd actually seen this year until I was trying to write this blurb. I guess that's the power of The Kane. Heh. I guess I should have been clued in when I had to use an old-ass picture. Here's to hoping he shows his pretty face more in 2008, I'm counting on you, Leverage, as well as the new album.
#02 // Jensen Ackles
Last Year // #01 (Change -1)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #04
And You Are?: Dean Winchester on Supernatural
Why?: Dean's my favorite television character right now, and probably has been for the entire year. That's saying something. Ackles really brings that character to such beautiful life that he leaves me in aww so often it's not even funny. And I saw him in A Few Good Men in Dallas this summer. Not many folks can make me travel like that to see them perform live.
#01 // Steve Carlson
Last Year // #02 (Change +1)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: A talented musician:
Solo,
SCB &
Kane.
Why?: Yeah, if this is a surprise to anybody here I'd die of in shock. This has been the year of The Steve around these parts. I saw him play live (FINALLY!) in Dallas. Yes, he's the other one that drug my ass to Dallas later. Totally fucking worth it though. Besides being a talented musician, he's a general hotass. Heh.
Thanks for reading again this year, it was fun as always. :)
