Men of the Year 2007 // (50-26)

Dec 25, 2007 00:51

3rd annual yearly round up. I did this in 2005 and 2006 HERE and now it's just becoming a little tradition, so I thought I should do it again this year too. And since I've been so busy, I figured I better get on the ball and do it a titch early, just in case.

As you may remember, this list is never really a "hottest" list - just men in entertainment that did great things in the past year, in my eyes. Though, lots of them are very hot. ;)

Anyway - so here's the start of my picks for the Top 50 Men of 2007.

#50 // Alligator Dave
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: A singer of dirty, dirty, hilarious songs.
Why? I saw him perform in Dallas, and while the first few words from his mouth were certainly a shock to the system (oh, the crazy voice on that boy) the talent was completely there. A very gifted musician. And anyone that can sing about cocks and road head in basically the same breath as about Nintendo or do a rendition of "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid is fine upstanding citizen by me. Heh.

#49 // Paul Adelstein
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Dr. Cooper Freedman on Private Practice.
Why?: While this fall season of television has had some gems, and some total crap, Adelstein is a bright spot in the rather middle ground 'meh' Grey's Anatomy spin-off.

#48 // Justin Kirk
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Andy Botwin on Weeds.
Why?: He's always been entertaining, but this years kinda-sorta role reversal where he was actually the most stable Botwin adult (how sad is that?) was pretty brilliant.

#47 // Patrick Warburton
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Jeff on Rules of Engagement.
Why?: While I'm embarrassed that I'm even watching this (oh, David Spade, your shtick is so old just like you are) I do adore Megyn Price, so had to check it out. While he's no Donal Logue in the world of TV husbands - Warburton is constantly amusing in his oh so dry way.

#46 // Michael Cera
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: George-Michael on Arrested Development.
Why?: I've just started to get into AD this year, and he's so funny. He just seems so earnest in his humor, which was played up in Superbad. At this rate, I can't wait to see Juno.

#45 // James Roday
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Shawn Spenser on Psych.
Why?: Fake psychics have never been so adorkable!

#44 // Vincent Martella
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Greg on Everybody Hates Chris.
Why?: Because he's so in there.

#43 // Nick Kroll
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Nick on Cavemen; VH1 commentator.
Why?: Yes, I'm a sucker for sitcoms. It's a fatal flaw. Cavemen is bad. But Nick Kroll is so good it makes me feel at least a little less ashamed for watching.

#42 // Jim Beaver
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Bobby on Supernatural.
Why?: Not only is he the great Bobby on SPN, he's a fantastic character actor that's always a delight to see show up on the screen.

#41 // Michael C. Hall
Last Year // #40 (Change -1)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Dexter Morgan on Dexter.
Why?: I may be behind on Dexter, but I know I like it and MCH.

#40 // James Tyler Williams
Last Year // #36 (Change -4)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Chris Rock on Everybody Hates Chris.
Why?: Such a great child actor that he really brings a certain truth, as well as comedy, to the young TV version of Chris Rock.

#39 // Bradley Cooper
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // 2005; #17
And You Are?: Aidan Stone on Nip/Tuck.
Why?: While I haven't been interested in N/T for several seasons, I have caught a few eps that Cooper has been lately and he's SO great in the part he's playing there.

#38 // Dan Byrd
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Justin on Aliens in America.
Why?: Oh, gosh, he's such a little nerd. Adorkable and fun to watch on AiA as hell. And if he's not made to play a brother to Ellen Muth in some project, I don't know who would be.

#37 // Jim Parsons
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory.
Why?: Lots of sitcoms this year are just 'meh' but they seem to have that one awesome character. Sheldon is it for TBBT. He loves The Flash for the love of God! Of course I love him. Plus he was the knight in Garden State. Yes, that one.

#36 // Greg Grunberg
Last Year // #33 (Change -3)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #19
And You Are?: Matt Parkman on Heroes.
Why?: Because Grunny is awesome. Always, always.

#35 // Steven Pasquale
Last Year // #17 (Change -18)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #31
And You Are?: Sean Garrity on Rescue Me.
Why?: I love him as Sean, even if he often has very little to do of substance.

#34 // Terry Crews
Last Year // #25 (Change -9)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Julius on Everybody Hates Chris.
Why?: His penny-pinching, good dad character is truly inspired and lovable.

#33 // Michael Rosenbaum
Last Year // #23 (Change -10)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #09
And You Are?: Lex Luthor on Smallville.
Why?: I might find SV long past it's prime, but if there's any reason to hang on, it's been Rosenbaum. While it will hurt for him to leave his brilliantly flawed Lex behind, I can't wait to see him flourish after his days on SV end.

#32 // Michael Muhney
Last Year // #08 (Change -24)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #06
And You Are?: Sheriff Lamb on Veronica Mars.
Why?: He was such a great character it makes me sad that he'll never been seen on screen again. But I have faith that Muhney's talent will be used elsewhere. Here's to hoping Whedon grabs him up someday.

#31 // Clinton Kelly
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Himself on What Not To Wear.
Why?: I really got into WNTW this year, and Clinton is such a blast to watch in action.

#30 // Paul Rudd
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Pete in Knocked Up.
Why?: Paul Rudd is one of my favorite screen stars. If I see his name, I'm way more inclined to see anything. He was the best part about KU. Heh, the movie and the college, I'd imagine.

#29 // Nathan Fillion
Last Year // #32 (Change +3)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #08
And You Are?: Alex Tully on Drive.
Why?: Oh, Nathan. If only FOX didn't suck so hard.

#28 // Neil Flynn
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Janitor on Scrubs.
Why?: I *heart* Janitor. And knowing he's ad-libbing most of it, makes me love Flynn even more.

#27 // Hugh Laurie
Last Year // #011 (Change -16)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #03
And You Are?: Dr. Gregory House on House.
Why?: I still love Laurie, like whoa, but House hasn't been appointment TV for me for awhile now. Which is kinda sad.

#26 // Denis Leary
Last Year // #012 (Change -14)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #11
And You Are?: Tommy Gavin on Rescue Me.
Why?: I love Leary's RM, even if it'll never be able to touch the greatness that was the first season again, I'm sure.

The rest of the list will be posted before the end of the year. :)
