So, I made
Oreo Truffles for book club, but I made them green since it was st patty's day. Ainsley was totally impressed I could make them green. This caused me to make a super weak parenting move. I showed her food coloring. Oh dear. Since that day she's been asking to "make" the food coloring. She didn't know what it was for, she just knew she wanted to use it. Today, it's windy like a hurricane, or a dust storm, or like I live in Lubbock Texas. She can't go outside, she can't even use her sidewalk chalk on the balcony. Mommy the genius, to compensate for the silly move earlier with the food coloring, made some sugar cookies. (I have the most awesome recipe, not too sweet, soft, and great with or without frosting.) I then made her three bowls with cream cheese frosting, and let her go to town. Here are the results:
Concentrating on her work.
Decorating away!
They say you can't lick your elbow...you think I should add contortionist to her list of possible career choices?
The finished product. She made those special for me.
These are the green Oreo truffles. Not as cute as Bakerella's, but they are mighty delicious.
Here's the recipe for the cookies
Sugar cookies
2 and 3/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 and 1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
2) In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend dry in the flour mixture. Roll into balls and place on cookie sheet..
3) Bake 8-11 minutes.
Like I said, they are great without frosting, too.
BTW...still no baby. Grrr...
