Sandhurst came and went this year, and to be honest, I don't even know how we did. The Coast Guard Academy tends to be pretty terrible at playing Army, but we do try hard and everyone tends to walk away with a lot of pride being the only blue uniforms in 4,000 green ones. I always have a really good time talking to people and making new friends (the Brits were SO hot!), and it's fun watching it all come together. We had mud up to my knees, and when I was describing the pond-lake went went through that was past my chest, the West Pointer was confused, and then I realized we went the wrong way. At the Awards Ceremony, the Commadant of the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst (the Brits) made fun of the Coast Guard a couple times during his speech, and all the Brits were apologizing to us when we were cleaning out the guns in the armory. A good time, a little surreal to think something that played a huge part of my cadet career is over, but a good time none the less.

The memory of this year that will stick out: The non-competiting team pulled in, and Adam asked if he could "talk about his feelings". We sat on the stone fence on top of a hill that faces the Hudson River, and talked and talked. I really missed the competeing team the last couple of weeks - some of my best friends are on that team, and spending time with everyone was a joy. He was laughing about our relationship, and how I go from "team mom" to "big sister" to "little sister" depending on what the conversation is. I'm going to miss him. He's one of the most genuine people I've ever met.

And now there's 23 days to go, and oh my gosh so much work to do before it all ends. My only time off from working today was going to a BBQ and drinking 1/2 a margarita with some LT's and LTjg's. Normally I would have felt misplaced with the grownups, but I'm a stone's throw from being an ensign, and everyone accepts me as one of them, and it was fun.
