THUMP.

David jumped. Well, he jumped as much as was physically possible considering the fact that he was currently tied to a bed in nothing but his undershirt, his boxers, and his socks. All was silent for a moment, and then he heard groaning in the hallway right outside the bedroom door. That sounds like a…girl… Somehow, there was a girl right outside the room. He hadn’t heard the front door, and the man who was the victim of the joke was not supposed to be here for another ten minutes. Oh God please don’t let it be a fangirl. I don’t need to be jumped right now. He heard footsteps approaching the door, and a familiar voice began calling out. “Hello? Is anyone in there?”

“Billie?!” David nearly died with shock. “Billie, what on earth are you doing here?! You need to go! How did you get in here? Get out, quick!”

“….Billie?” The door opened to reveal a girl with Billie Piper’s face, but blonde hair. She looked a bit older too, and her hair was longer. She had a strange device strapped to her wrist. Her eyes widened in shock when she saw him. “Oh my God….Doctor! What happened to you?! Why are you tied to a bed?”

David knew at that moment that something was very wrong here. He knew that Billie had stopped dying her hair when she left the show, and she had looked far younger when he saw her two weeks ago. The girl ran to the bed and began to untie him, telling him all the while about how far she had traveled and how long she had been looking for him. “And the dimension cannon finally started working, and so here I am!”

David had to stop this right now. “Wait, you’re serious about all of this?”

“Why wouldn’t I be? Why are you mad at me? We made sure to not cause any holes in the walls of the universe ourselves, we just used ones that were already there! So what’s the problem?”

David gawked. “Now wait a minute, I think you’re in the wrong place. I’m not who you think I am.”

The girl froze. “What? You’re not the Doctor?”

“No hon, I’m not. My name is David. I’m an actor. I’ve played the Doctor before, but I’m not actually the Doctor. You’re still in the wrong universe.”

The girl, who David had now pegged as Rose Tyler, looked thunderstruck. She sat down heavily in a chair next to the bed. “You’re not him?” She looked like a child who had just learned that Santa Claus didn’t exist.

David sat up. “No, I’m not. I’m sorry. You’ll find him eventually though, I promise.”

Tears began to form in Rose’s eyes. “We were certain that this was the right universe. We triple checked the math…”

“I’m sorry, Rose. You need to go back.” David opened his arms for a hug, and found himself with an armful of Rose. She squeezed him tightly, then let go and stood up.

“Thank you for telling me. I’ve run into alternate versions before who tried to take advantage of me.” Rose and David shuddered simultaneously at the thought. The device on her wrist beeped. “I have to go now.”

“Good luck, Rose Tyler. I know you’ll find the Doctor.”

“Thank you, David. Goodbye.”

She pressed a button on the device. There was a flash.

Rose Tyler was gone.
