New Music Tuesday: The Pipettes

Jan 08, 2008 17:48

Is it cheating to declare something I only just heard in the first week of 2008 to be one of my favorite albums of 2007? Maybe it is, but I don't care. We Are The Pipettes, the UK trio's full-length debut, is, in my opinion, worth a bit of retconing. The Pipettes (Riotbecki, Gwenno, and Rosay) are a retro delight--60s girl-group pop with a punk attitude. Matching outfits and synchronized dance moves...what's not to like? (It also doesn't hurt that all three are really, really cute.)

To see what I mean, take a gander at the video for "Your Kisses are Wasted On Me"

Other stand-out tracks: We are the Pipettes (so freakin' catchy!), Pull Shapes, Dirty Mind, ABC
