I just stumbled upon this amazing set of photos (by Claude Joannis) on Flickr. I'm not sure what the story is behind these wood and metal marvels, but it makes me happy to know that I live in a world where giant mechanical (and apparently drivable!) squids, deep sea angler fish, and elephants exist.
