I want something else now...

At first I wasn't interested in the Amazon Kindle. I had thought it was just for reading books (and I hate reading with a passion). But last night I learned that it actually does a lot more.

The feature that attracted me the most was the version with 3G. Meaning, you can access the web anywhere without a wi-fi hotspot. Of course it won't be as fully capable as browsing on a PC, but I don't need the fancy things while I'm on my lunch break. I'm hoping to use it for LJ purposes, mainly. I talked to one of my co-workers who has one, and he showed me how the web access works on it, and he even accessed LJ with it. I've been looking at cell phones and stuff, but was wondering what kind of prepaid phone plus the plan I could afford. But the best thing about the Kindle's 3G is that there's no monthly fees or annual contracts. So that's perfect for a poor sap like me.

And who knows, maybe I'll get into reading with this thing. If not, there's news articles or other magazines that I could read. The Kindle has some other interesting features, like a built-in MP3 player, or the text-to-speech, where it reads the books aloud to you (if the book itself supports it). I might go for that.

So yeah...I'll have to tell my aunt that I changed my mind. Instead of the Nintendo 3DS, I want an Amazon Kindle with the 3G and wi-fi.

kindle, my life
