*getting nauseous on the roller coaster that is life*

Well, I've come to realize that it's highly likely that I'll only get to see my friend a mere four times before she moves to Houston. I had planned on typing out a list of creative analogies I'd made over the past few days that described how it feels to have someone that understands you so well no longer in close contact with you, but after some recent events, I really am so happy for her that she's moving away from here.

There's been a steady downpour of rain today, and as usual I enjoy days like this very much. Unfortunately, that's how I came to realize how much of a patch-job the patch-job on our roof was. We had a nice big blue tarp to cover up the hole left by the absent chimney top just in case it rained before the roof would be totally repaired, and the guy even nailed down a few wooden posts on top of it to keep it in place. Well, after the rain today I started noticing a number of water spots all over the ceiling in the house. The most noticeable were in my mom's bedroom, in the living room above the fireplace, and a total ring around the dining room. My art supplies yet again endured an evacuation (this time only six feet from the dining room into the living room) just in case any leaks sprung. Then it got so bad in my mom's room that there were streams of water running down the wall where the water spots appeared. And of course, she also noticed some nice black mold forming in the nearby closet. *puts on a dust mask and inhales deeply* I love the smell of mold and musky building material in the morning ! So today was about as fun as using a cactus for a trampoline.

So overall, I'm glad my friend gets to escape this area even though I'm one water spot away from stowing in one of her moving boxes. And with that I must say my journal has gotten way too depressing in these last few entries. This blue and violet color scheme can't be helping much either, but the next paragraph should hold some reasonably good news.

I'm starting to grow a monopoly over logo contests in this area. One is for a community support organization for the art department of this university, and my professor made it an assignment for the whole class. After critique one day, he pulled me aside and said that my design was a dead ringer for what the organization was looking for. Then we also had to design a logo for a student organization in the art department called Artist Common. The students get to vote for one of the designs that our class produces, and already a good majority of the members said to me that they wanted to wear my logo as a T-shirt. So, that's a big load of grooviness. I guess this is also a lot of good evidence to support the idea that art comes from suffering. XD
