Yesterday, J and I spent several hours in the Accident and Emergency Department at our local hospital, waiting for him to get himself checked over. On Sunday evening he hit a patch of ice on his bike whilst he was cycling home from work and planted his face on the tarmac. There is so much I enjoy about this time of year. There are plenty of things I could lament: the passing of summer, which in the case of this particular year has not been much to lose; the shortening of the days; the chill weather; another year rapidly drawing to a close.
