Poor Ri; today is not a good day for him.
Tried taking him outside to work and though he'd sit, it was a struggle to get him to look at me. And though we worked on engagement, which was actually pretty good, nothing else worked for him. And I already know, using a toy as a break from things won't work, he'll just run around and ignore me.
I ended the session for him and brought him inside and took Shi out.
Shi was much better. When I went to let her out she REALLY wanted to go out, and she wouldn't even potty first; no, she danced around the deck, wooed at me and sat in this "No, I wanna train!" demand, I swear! She was engaged, sitting, looking at me; so I upped her challenge a little. When I call her now, she has to come sit in front of me. I tried to get her to sit in front of me straight and close, but it just wasn't working so I nixed that sitting close and straight, to just coming to at least sit instead of run right past me.
In the end, out of about ten calls, she succeeded doing eight come and sit. A couple of times I know she was like "oh shit, stop and sit!" when her back end kind'a kicked up a little just before she reached me, like she was thinking of running past but thought better of it.
Still, she did it which I'm very proud of her for.
Also worked on her free recalls. Getting a bit better at that, too, although there she does tend to run past me and will still check stuff out, just not as long this time around. So, a little more progress there I think.
