When you have an open wound and dab rubbing alcohol on it, it burns right? You steel yourself for it cause you know it's gonna stop burning quickly. But what if you kept putting rubbing alcohol on it repeatedly- not only would it interfere with healing, but it would keep on burning until all the nerves in that area used up their little doohickeys they use to communicate pain, or until you stopped.
That is nursing on a cracked nipple with thrush. Only add a fews shooting pains up into the breast as the milk lets down.
I sure hope the grapefruit seed extract in water solution works better than the vinegar. Patrick also got me some lanolin for my nipples.
