crume. I've been on a reading kick the past few months and it has felt wonderful. It started, I think, with a trip to Bookman's with Daniela a few months ago. I ended up with a copy of Anna Karenina and the
Toughest Indian in the World.
I quickly finished Alexie's collection of short stories, which was fantastic. Not as great as his
Ten Little Indians, which is still my favorite book of short stories, but still a great read.
This past Saturday I just finished Anna Karenina. It has been a long two months reading it. It is by far the best book I have ever read. The writing is nigh perfect and the characters are human to their fault. The characters are drawn in such a way that even in their failings you understand them; I was able to relate to Levin in his best and worst moments. Many of the other characters were much the same. No matter how much you liked or disliked them, you felt that you knew them intimately. It was one of the most amazing books I've read. I loved it and suggest it to anyone who loves to read.
Sunday, I started and finished
Reservation Blues, which was given to me as a gift by Daniela. It was also a lovely book. Alexie used many of his characters from his book of short stories,
The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven as well as a good heap of Magical Realism. Quite lovely, if you ask me.
Currently, I'm reading God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, which was loaned to me by my friend. I should be done with it before Friday, at which time I begin reading Book Seven (which I incidentally downloaded today . . . but only read the first page). I'm rather enjoying it. I've never read Vonnegut other than his recent essays.
