Mom, Dad, Do You Think I'm Dumb, Or What?

I haven't posted about my kids in a while, but I'm going to rectify that somewhat by posting a couple incidents where Nicky showed me how smart she is.

Yesterday, while I had a babysitter to take care of Nicky because I was sick, I woke up to put her down for her nap, because Nicky almost never willingly goes to sleep for babysitters. She was almost finished with her lunch, and was allowing herself to be distracted by a wind-up carousel that she had at the table with her. Wanting to get her to hurry up and eat so we could start naptime, I gave her our traditional warning of "Five more minutes."

Ten seconds later, she said, "All finished, get down!" The babysitter took her out of her booster, and I said, OK, naptime. She turned and said, "Five more minutes, Daddy!", in a tone of voice and with a look that clearly meant, "I heard what you said a few seconds ago, and I'm no dummy."

Mommy likes Frosted Flakes for an occasional snack. Nicky is also a big fan of what she calls "Tiger food". A few months back, Jess stopped buying them, because she didn't want to promote Nicky eating that junk food.

About a month ago, Mommy picked up a bag of generic frosted flakes, figuring that without Tony on the front, Nicky wouldn't ask for them. Nicky was not fooled. As soon as she saw the bag, she said "Want tiger food please."
