Had a nice weekend at Marcon with trekwriter and abracadavey. We went to the pre-registration booth and got our badges (note for next year-bring lanyards!) and then went to dinner at the Food Court in the convention center and had Chinese. We went to the dealer's room and then went back to the hotel as it was around 9:30 or so. The next day we ate breakfast at the hotel and it was off to the convention center. We didn't attend any panels Friday as we arrived late. The center was quite warm Friday night so I didn't bother to bring my sweater on Saturday, but I should have. It was freezing in there. We got a cup of coffee sometime in the afternoon to try and warm us up a bit.
On Saturday we went our separate ways. I wanted to attend a Makeup Demo at 10:00 a.m. I arrived at the room a couple of minutes early. The door was closed and another woman was also waiting. She asked if we should. go in? I tried the door and it was open so we went in. Another person came in and that was it. The two of them left after a minute or two. I waited until 10:10 a.m. and no one showed, so I left and went to a panel the USS Maximillian was hosting. Most of the audience consisted of members of the club, but towards the end the panelists demonstrated some the skit they were going to perform at the Masquerade that night. I was having a good time. At the end I was the only non-member present! At 11:30 Joy and I attended a panel on James Bond, but we only stayed a little while and went to the dealer's room.
At 1:00 p.m. I attended Q&A session with Kevin Sorbo and Steve Bacic who starred in Andromeda. I didn't watch the series that much, but it was an interesting session. Kevin said that there will be a 4th Pirates movie and he may be in it. He wasn't sure about the other stars, though, so it may be a completely new cast.
I think we then went to the Three Weird Sisters concert, but we didn't stay for all of it. It was the first time I heard them. They are really good. I think we went to lunch and went to a couple more panels and the dealer's room. I bought a silver necklace. Then we went to the Masquerade. The Three Weird Sisters performed while the judges made the decision on the best costumes. Then we went to a panel on SG-1 which we left before it was over and then went back to the hotel. We didn't eat at the Food Court, so I was planning to eat the snacks I brought along. We had to decide what time we were to meet on Sunday, so I went to Joy and Dave's room. Dave was hungry so he ordered pizza, so I said I'd eat some. We had pizza around midnight.
We met at 9:30 on Sunday. We loaded up the car and headed to the convention. We had muffins and coffee and went to the art auction. Joy saw the same print that really affected her last year so she bought it. We went back to the dealer's room. Joy wanted a CD of the Three Weird Sisters. She bought the last one. I would have bought it, too, if there was another copy. We planned to listen to the Three Weird Sisters again, but when we got to the room, they were still setting up, so we left. We went to the Human Chess Match, but they didn't have enough pieces. We waited for 20 minutes or so, but they never got started so we left.
We were going to leave the convention, but it was pouring rain, so we went to the hospitality room and waited for it to stop. It lasted about 15 minutes. We began our journey home at 12:30 p.m.
