GMAT Day

I was sorta coughy and sore-throaty on sunday and it got worse on monday. By the time I went to bed I'm pretty sure I had a fever. I had the tender skin and chills... given my luck with my health I was expecting the worst. Between snow and potential illness I was not optimistic.

I should've known things had turned around when I walk in the door and the proctor stops humming R&B for a second to point at my Bears shirt and say "Alright! 9-3 baby!" It's true. That defense has given up just over 10 points a game. Brush the shoulders off boys. (sorry emily. back to content)

First essay I think it did pretty well. My second essay (opinion) wasn't as good though. The statement I was supposed to support or oppose was something like..."in a new era of internation cooperation and international business, the individual must learn to be a citizen of the global community rather than a citizen of one country." Umm... true. Next question? Oh shit... umm... ok here's a crappy essay agreeing with a statement that is generally accepted by all but the most right-wing.

Math section next and this is where I was focused. My verbal scores were pretty steady (and above avg) in practices so my goal was to get above avg in math and SHOCK THE WORLD by finally proving my above-averageness. I did a good job of managing my time and I knew I was doing well because the questions were fucking hard and stayed hard. FYI the gmat gets harder as you get questions correct to find a sort of threshold. I was hanging in with tough questions so that was a good sign.

When I got to verbal I had to force myself to go through the little methods when all I wanted to do was rush through, get my typical score, and find out the good news about the math section.

Results...

Math - 43 which is 70%ile <-- Highest I've ever gotten
Verbal - 44 which is 97%ile <--- Holy shit!
total via bizarre calculations: 710 which is 94%ile
