I'm very pleased with how well things have been going the last few weeks.
[how unexpected. it's the captain, addressing the ship from the safety of the bridge, returned from wherever he had been hiding. his mood seems...chipper]
In fact, I think things have been going so well that a little celebration is in order. [he nods, sounding quite pleased with himself] I have just the idea.
All passengers are invited to a night of fine dining with their captain. I'll be hosting a dinner party for the ship three days from now in The Jupiter, the finest example we have of Greek cuisine. The restaurant can be found on Level 15.
I hope you see all of you there. Oh, and this will be a black tie event, so please dress appropriately.
Details
Time to put on your Sunday best, Crucible! The captain has invited everyone to a party and woe be to those that are late, or decide not to show up. This may be the passengers' only opportunity to talk to Ganymede face-to-face. But how? When? Why? Here's a handy list of the details:
• This Saturday (the 8th) at 8 PM CST I will post a log in the log comm with the mod journal, ICly acting as the captain.
• Everyone interested in talking to him can post one comment in reply to the entry. One is all you get, so better make it a good one! Details about the restaurant, sitting arrangements, food, and just what the captain is doing will be posted at that time. Characters can comment to one another, but they can only address the captain once.
• To avoid a flood of people rushing to post first, comments will be done in alphabetical order, starting with a character's last name (or first, if they don't have a last name).
• The post will remain open until everyone on the guest list has commented, though this may vary depending on what characters say and do.
To go into a little more detail about that, the captain can and will react to certain things that a character says. What happens largely depends on what was said or done; he may just make a comment and nothing more. Or he could bring the whole dinner party to an abrupt end. I advise players to think very carefully about what their character's actions are going to be. Could you try to kill the captain? Certainly. Wrest vital information from him? Yep! Tell a joke? Sure, but I can't say if he'll laugh or not. This is an entirely open forum, but you only have one opportunity to use it. Collaboration is encouraged but not required and attending the party is entirely optional.
But! If you are going to have your characters show up, please comment here with that information! I will compile the guest list in alphabetical order and provide it at the start of the log on Saturday. I will also be striking through the names of those who have commented in the log, so players can tell at a glance if it's their turn. Naturally, if you know already that you won't be available any time this weekend, then don't add your characters to the guest list. One missing person could hold up the whole thing, so make sure you can be around! There will be some waiting involved, especially for those players in different timezones, so some patience will be required. However, I expect everyone to have commented by Monday night, barring any comments that require the captain to react then and there. ;D
And yes, it IS a black tie event. Suits and gowns only. Characters not in formal attire will be barred from entering the restaurant. Arbitrary, I know, but this is Ganymede we're talking about.
As for the state of the ship, the ghosts are still very much present. But they're not that much of a bother, right? Something passengers might notice, though, is that some of the scenes they see have started to loop, as though the phantoms are from only up until a certain point in time.
If you have any questions about the above information or intend for your characters to go to the party, please comment here!
