Well we were at a loss to name my border collie so we left it as it was.
When coming up for a name for her, I wanted it to be something possibly land- or earth-related since "Reo" is pronounced like "Rio" which means "River." I wanted it to be a sort of yin-and-yang sort of relationship. :P
I just looked up the meaning of the name Rhea, and it's taken from the Greek word meaning "Earth." Hmm, seems appropriate, huh? Funny how these names come into your head and they end up suiting more than you'd think. Originally I just pronounced it "Rea" to be the "feminime equivalent" of "Reo" but now it's sticking. ;)
Sadly, we forgot our camera for the parade festivities... what a shame! And apparently no one in town that blogs has photos up either. Sigh. Well, it happened anyway... I did wear a border collie fursuit in the hot July summer sun of a Florida beach town. ;) And I'll do it again next year!! Rhea feels like "me" the same way Skittle does, so I don't think she will be going anywhere soon. Funny, isn't it, how the fox, the animal I thought I had the most affinity for, ends up being the one I was easiest able to part with?
So to sate those of you who wanted MOAR PICS, here you go for now:
Hey, dogs groom their legs in groups, don't they?
Reo got SUCH a big kick out of me "being a doggy" (instead of him "being a people") that he wouldn't quit grooming my paws!!
Fun times. :)
After the parade, we had
carlfox,
sulinpanda and their little one back to our house for lunch. After they headed out, I took a nap (suited for a full hour for the parade, after all!!) and then Joe and I went downtown, found a parking space, and joined Carl, Sulin,
simtra and
walkertxkitty and one of their friends for the fireworks on the fort lawn. Spectacular show, as usual. Made even more so by a PBS special we watched on fireworks the night before, we now know how difficult it is to make the blue colors last in the sky. ;)
A wonderful weekend, and the past few days have just been spent catching up on rest. The next few weeks will be busy as I have commissions to work on and all sorts of things to get done.
