So I decided to take a walk down the block today, to see the new little store they put in at the corner plaza. It looked interesting when I've been driving by on the way to work the past week or so.
I've decided that me eventually living in NYC is not strictly necessary after all.
The new place?
Is an Asian Novelties store.
(no one hit me- that's what the sign outside calls it.)
And
and
so much ~Shiny~
I've never seen so much Hello Kitty concentrated in one place before in my life. XD
To quote Donatello: "This place has everything." There was pretty lil statues, fountains, cookware (yes I said cookware...stop staring at me for finding frying pans exciting) jewelry like crazy, urahara-looking hats, keychains flip flops,, plastic organizer thingies, wooden ducky puzzles, character clocks, purses (not that I know purses very well, but I think that these ones were pretty, and would even make Katie Damon go "Ooooh"), stickers, pens, school supplies, and all this Disney type stuff. So many princesses, and pooh bears, and TIGGERS. Also a big photobooth thing like at the mall.
Plus, about a million other interesting things that I would have stared at all day, trying to figure out what they are (packaging not written in a language I know ^^;) if I didn't have to come back here to start writing an article I have due tomorrow.
The only thing that was sadly lacking was manga/anime but I can go a few blocks further to the Borders in the mall if I want that, or just as far as lappy.... so I'm not terribly upset over that.
Looking at all the shiny even made up for the rest of today's weirdness. Like I said, i walked to the corner (what would have been the point in driving?)
But I forgot that my town is full of ...shall we say...Nimrods? I mean seriously. My shorts are not very short, and who really thinks honking is a compliment? Apparently those 5 or 6 cars. ::shakes head::
Then when I got back home (with a small bag of shiny that will be the equivalent of me buying lunch the next few days ^^; ) I got a call from a voice recording telling how much that politician who visited the newsroom the other day cares about Women's Rights. .....yeah-huh. Riiiight. w................./e.
But yeah. Good day. I really hope that store stays open. I seriously almost skipped on the way home with my pretty pretty bag (even the bag they give you is pretty!) I don't know how it ended up in my sadly culture-deficient, suburban, little white girl neighborhood, but I can only pray that someone besides me ends up wandering in there and spending all their lunch money some cash, or it won't stay. The prices aren't even bad. A lot of the stuff I was looking at was under $2 or $5. ::more joy:: I love things under $5. ::happy sigh:: Besides? Who can't love a store that puts the children's toys right next to the novelty multicolored box cutters? hmm? WHO I ask?!
So, next time people are in my neck of the woods, I may find it necessary to er...prod them in that general direction...::whistles and looks at the ceiling::
Tune in next time kiddies,
for,
The Adventures of:
Stevie!
