Dairine woke up with a headache, which was annoying. She spent a few seconds laying in bed staring at the ceiling, then rolled out of bed, her feet hitting the floor with a pleasing smack. All things considered, just having a headache wasn't too bad. She would definitely be able to function today, which was nice. For one thing, it meant that magic was working a lot closer to normal here than it had in Wonderland. She regarded this as a very good thing.
"All right, Spot," she said, looking around for the computer.
He had crawled under the bed, but now stuck one eye out to peer at her.
"Let's go get something to eat, because I am famished."
Spot retracted the eye and scuttled out from under the bed. She picked him up, since though he could walk on his own, sometimes carrying him just made things easier.
It's probably bad to get addicted to caffeine, huh? she thought at him, feeling a little self-conscious talking out loud in the middle of the hallway.
Spot said something to the effect that getting addicted to anything was a bad idea, which started them on a discussion about addiction and substance abuse that lasted until they got to the kitchen.
Dairine set Spot down on a counter and looked around. "I guess it's eggs, then, unless you have a better idea."
