Sally had, of course, fretted for some time alone in her treehouse, throwing articles of clothing around, trying to decide on what to wear. In the end, however, she kept hearing Tony's own words in her head, about just being herself, and so she'd settled for just making sure her hair looked fabulous, and her makeup looked like the ladies in Revlon ads, and then headed on back to the castle.
She could smell the food all the way down the second story hallway and her eyes lit up when she saw what was waiting for her out on the balcony.
"Holy tomatoes," was her eloquent response. "Is it... supposed to smell that good?"
Tony chuckled. That was what he missed. That remarkable enthusiasm, that amazingly expressive face. A little like a toddler discovering thing for the first time. There was something about Sally. Tony didn’t know what it was but it was almost as if everything was new. But that was silly. She was a grown woman. He looked her up and down. No doubt about that. The fact Tony had to tilt his head up to look her in the eye only added to the mystique.
“It is and I’m glad you like it.” He poured her a glass of wine and held it out to her with a warm smile. “It’s good to see you again Sally, really good.” He took another moment just to take her in, relax. It was unlikely he was going to get the chance once she hit her stride. This was going to be fun… as long as she didn’t ask him…
He hid his concern behind a smile. “So what have you been up to since last we met Sally? Any more fun with tanks or unicorns?” He couldn’t see any holes but it didn’t hurt to ask.
Oh I'm sorry I... missed this b/c it wasnt' a reply :3amazonhomemakerMay 8 2010, 05:29:55 UTC
Sally accepted the glass gratefully, brushing hair out of her eyes, as she raked her eyes just as subtly over him. She felt like she hadn't seen him in forever, and she was amazed how much better the reality was than just the images that occupied her daydreams. She brought the glass to her lips as she considered his question.
"I tried sending a message to the outside world," she said. "We threw rocks." Of course, it was a little more complicated than that, but it was difficult to string words together in the right order around him sometimes. Maybe there was a bug in her tongue's programming or something.
Tony nodded, he didn't find her plan silly at all. "Every now and then the low tech approach is the way to go. That was pretty clever. Did anything come of it? Do you know if the rocks made it past the border?"
Tony realised that one of the things he liked about Sally was her total lack of pretension. Tony was used to girls that looked like Sally being rather too aware that they looked like Sally and it never bothered him at all until he met...
"Sally, have you made some friends since you got here? Good friends?"
"Well, I mean they... looked like they did," she said, trailing off as she wound her fingers together nervously. The truth was she wasn't sure: they couldn't get close enough to the border to look and see if they evaporated or what. "Anyways, we wrote letters home and everything."
His question took her by surprise. Her first response was to say yes, but then she slowed down and considered the question.

"Define... 'good'."
