Tony wouldn't have cooked for just anyone. It wasn't something he enjoyed that much, though he was father good at it. It seemed a lot of effort to go to to get something as ephemeral as food but, sometimes, it became part of an experience and, at those times, it was worth doing. He found a fine bottle of white to go with the chicken medallions. Desert was light and simple, ice cream and fruit because it seemed like something Sally would appreciate. Sweet and light and a little cheerful. He lit the candles, adjusted his tie and poured himself a drink.
Sitting in the rail of the balcony he sipped at his drink. This was probably one of the most normal things he had done since he arrived, for the most extraordinary girl he had ever met, and he was speaking literally. He was been surrounded by women since senior high-school and he had met hundreds, been close to almost as many, but none of them were anything like Sally. None of the men he knew for that matter either. He was no closer to understanding her than he ever was. He only knew she could always make him smile, always make him feel better, and he needed that now. He was also just as sure she could use a friend to talk to. There wasn't anyone here who couldn't. He sat on the balcony, trying to be patient.
