Molly didn’t protest Sam scooping her up and running.  She twined her arms around her… no his  neck.  It was all she could do not to ask him to go faster.

[Mayday-in-Hiro] Panic time over. Mostly. weirdweb May 31 2007, 02:55:44 UTC
ENTER MAYDAY (technically at the end of this post)

As May's initial panic finally subsided (aided by a session of cursing the island's existence at the top of Hiro's lungs for several seconds), she finally got to her - his? - whoever's feet and reviewed the situation.

She wasn't a sci-fi geek by anyone's standards, but between Jimmy and Courtney and her Dad, she knew all the standard cliches. If she was in Hiro's body, he was probably in hers - back in the bunker, which meant she had to get back there as soon as possible.

As she headed towards the shore, she nearly stepped on the sword she'd dropped to the ground. Gingerly, she picked it up, studying it. Even though she didn't know much about swords - save for having to dodge them - she had the feeling that it was special. An antique, maybe?

Antique or not, it probably meant something to the guy and she shouldn't leave it behind. She awkwardly cleaned the blade with Hiro's shirt before gingerly sliding it back into the sheath on her back. It was a close call at first; she nearly nicked Hiro's ear messing with the sword and the back sheath, since she was used to being slightly shorter. She managed to resheathe the sword without any bloodshed, and started towards the path that led to the bunker clearing.

Well, she thought it was the path, anyway.

As she hurried along, her foot caught a tree root, and she fell flat on her face. "Ow..." she groaned, slowly lifting herself onto her hands and knees. Why hadn't her spider-sense warned her about this?

Because you must not have your spider-sense anymore, idiot, she scolded herself. You managed without it before. You can manage again, just be careful. No spider-sense meant no superpowers. They must be tied into the body. Her body. That Hiro was probably in right now, in the laundry room, with her web-shooter out and her backpack wide open with the Spider-Girl mask in the zipper pocket -

Oh, God!

She started running again, heading in the direction she thought the bunker was in, and as she ran she thought she heard voices up ahead. Her panicked thoughts were almost keeping time with her footsteps as she ran. Can't explain the web-shooters, not with the mask, there goes the secret identity, if I ever get home Dad will ground me for the rest of my natural life if we all don't have to go into protective custody eeep-

The press of trees suddenly thinned out as she burst into the clearing, and immediately slammed on the brakes as she saw who was standing there: Ripley, River, and Scott. She nearly toppled over, but managed to grab onto a tree trunk for support. "Uh. Hi. Which way's the bunker?"

Sam heard a biped's crashing through the jungle at the same time Molly sensed its approach. He faced its direction, putting himself between Molly and House/Scott. Waves of panic and worry but no aggression preceeded it. Feeling that as the person approached was strange, albeit useful.

"May. Mayday Parker," Molly stated. "She switched, too." Sam nodded.

A moment later a young Japanese man stumbled into the clearing. His spectacled eyes widened when he saw the three of them. If not for the tree trunk he'd managed to grab he probably would have faceplanted. "Uh. Hi," May panted. "Which way's the bunker?"

Sam nearly pointed the way before he thought better of it. "May, wait." The young man's eyes grew huge again. "We know that you, ah, switched bodies." Merely saying the absurd phrase made his stomach knot. Sam rubbed his eyes -- narrowly avoiding scratching his face with his talons -- before continuing. He gestured at River's body. "Molly told us. She swapped with River, who you know is telepathic. Dr. House and I -- DI Tyler," he clarified, "had to get away from the bunker, too. The place is an emotional maelstrom."

I meant that Sam stood in front of Molly and House. *facepalm*

It took May a second to process what Ripley - no, DI Tyler - was saying. She stared at him, then Molly, then House, noticing the difference in mannerisms for the first time. Panic gave way to disbelief, then acceptance, then simple annoyance as the absurdity of the situation sank in.

She fought the urge to bang her head repeatedly against the tree trunk and settled for lightly thunking it on the bark once. "You have got to be kidding me. First everyone loses their memories, now everyone switches bodies. What is wrong with this place?"

Sam chuckled ruefully. "I know. It's like we're trapped in that 'Star Trek' episode I saw a few weeks ago; the one with the child god who toyed with the crew. First run on the Beeb. Caused quite a stir at the station."

Molly arched an eyebrow. "Sam? That aired in the early seventies."

Sam stared, then gulped. "Ah, yes. Syndication, of course." Granted, he was talking to a half-elf(!) trapped in a psychic's body while he was trapped in an empathic half-alien's body, but the last thing Sam wanted to discuss was his stay in 1973 courtesy of the DHARMA wankers. (It's a miracle I'm not completely mad yet.)

Aloud he said, "The bunker is that way," and pointed accordingly. "Molly and I will stay here, and perhaps Dr. House."

OOC: Kind of out of character, but I couldn't resist. *snerk*

"We're being held hostage by a cadre of bad science fiction writers?" Molly shrugged. Humor could only help fight the panic and frustration.

"The universe has a sick sense of humor and we won the lottery to entertain it? You pick."

Molly had not met the young man whose body May was currently occupying.

"Is your current body telepathic or empathic... no." Molly answered her own question before she finished it. "Not that you're aware of, and you're not getting any feedback from us. Blessed Daana, this is so strange. To see and feel these things."

And the more people congregated, the more panic pushed through her. Her own, which she just could not suppress, and the others panic and confusion fueling it. The discomfort of new bodies making her skin itch.

Sam felt Molly's tension wane somewhat after House left for the bunker. "Better?" he prompted.

Molly/River shrugged. "A little. One less mind to overhear."

Sam nodded, then turned to May-in-new-bloke. "Do you-- er, does your body have any ID? Any idea why you have a sword?"

((OOC: Sorry for the catchup, but considering who Scott resembles in May's mind...))

"Scott has a nice butt."

"Scott?" Now that May had her memories back, she knew exactly who Scott resembled. If he didn't look like a younger version of her Dad, she might have entertained the idea, but the notion of checking Scott out seemed just wrong. "Uh, he's not my type," she managed, shoving away the mental image of Dean in a wet T-shirt that was trying to come to her defense. This body was weird enough without getting turned on in it.

So she was incredibly grateful to Sam for the subject change. "I know who he is because of Tara. She met him when he wandered in. His name's Hiro; I haven't checked for ID yet." She was a bit too busy freaking out and bolting for the bunker. "I, uh, I was digging through some really personal stuff when we switched."

"So this Hiro guy currently is elbows deep in your underwear? Poor guy. Not only a heart attack from the change, but then faces a drawer full of womens unmentionables."

Molly tried to put a humorous spin on the situation, and protect May's secrets. But she was getting a very clear picture of May holding metal bracelets with triggers that fit at the heel of the hand. Webshooters. Considering her ability to cling to the ceiling it did not seem strange. Seeing into May's surface thoughts, however, was.

"Well River got stuck with uncontrollable hair and pointy ears."
