Softball try outs started today. Today was good, except my hitting is..basically horrendous, and no one ever showed me how to bunt so that's a slight problem. My fielding's pretty good, and I love to run (I out ran Missy Gouin today, that's good. That's really good). Base running's probably my strongest point at the moment. Coach Paquin says I have a good push off, courtesy of track practice. Seriously, I won my first ever 40 yard dash in 6th grade with a 6.3-that's really good for a 6th grader. Over-the-shoulder grabs is another area I need to work on. Other than that, I'm so excited! Ah! You have no idea. I'll probably be able to play the National Anthem for this, too. I just wanna play softball. It's a sport I really, really love, and want to get better at. Kind of like guitar, except I can't play guitar right now because I hurt my finger...
I was at Midtown on Sunday around..quarter of 12 or so because I needed to switch my lesson around for this week. While I was there, I got talking with Brian, he's the manager or something there-wicked cool guy, and we got talking about music and guitars obviously (he's seen over 40 Grateful Dead shows..That's crazy), and you know what? I don't feel like talking about that any more. Moving on.
..Or moving back to softball. I know that basically zero percent of you care, but I care. And that's all that matters. I love the coaches, the coaches like me (once again, thank you, Steph), and that always helps. I know 98% of the players, and everyone seems to get along. It's gonna be a blast.
I'm basically exhausted. Two hours of softball, which included 2 laps around the track, 5 minutes of straight jogging, sprints, shuffles, foot fires, pitching machines, hitting off tees, bunting, weight exercises, bat exercises, medicine balls, grounders, charging, stretches, and being compared to Jenny Dutremble, it makes for a long night. It went by fast, but it was fun. It was very, very fun.
I'm so glad Steph's my sister. It's a leverage in ways. Things usually run in families. My dad played baseball, Steph played softball, my cousins all played either one, and now I'm playing..again. Being a Mantis in general is a great thing. Being related to Steph is also a great thing. It's powerful in a way, except people expect things of you, like with any family (example-Jenny Dutremble's grandfather founded Biddeford little league baseball, it's in her blood. Her brother played in college, and so did her sister. It's all natural for them). I love it though. I love it.
