Everyone has a theory on the topic of "Heaven and Hell." I was watching a show this morning where 4 women were discussing this topic.
Barbara: I was at a dinner recently and was astonished by how many people do not believe there is a Heaven and a Hell. Do you believe in Heaven and Hell?
Speaker 1: Yes!
Barbara: What is it? Describe it.
Speaker 1: It's where I'm headed. I can't describe it, it's a place of complete happiness and contentment.
Speaker 2: I don't believe there is a Heaven and Hell. I think there are so many people out there in a living Hell, how could there be something worse?
Barbara: Maybe those people have to believe in a Heaven because it's all they have to give them hope.
Speaker 3: I believe Heaven is in you. I believe if you live a truly good life, you're happy, you're doing what you believe is right Heaven exists in your mind.
(of course these words have been filtered through me, and are not exact quotes.)
How could Heaven have such a twisted translation?
Heaven and Hell both exist. Heaven is separate from the earth.
-Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth.
-Luke 12:5b Fear him who after killing the body has the power to throw you into hell. (that's Jesus speaking)
Heaven is going to be SO much better than earth. (It's going to be perfect!) I mean, we can't even begin to fathom how marvelous it is. (I'm sure we've all that this conversation before.) Well, I can't help but notice...if we REALLY believe that, why do so few people know about it. Everyone has heard of Heaven, but so few people know the truth of it. That is to say not even Christians know EXACTLY what it is like, or what to expect. The mystery is part of the beauty. I wish I could share the hope of Heaven with everyone. "Heaven exists in you." ?? I feel bad that in this theory the most extravagent place exists within the person themself. I mean, I'm not perfect and if Heaven was something that I produced...that just seems hopeless to me.
Ps 19:1a "The Heavens declare the glory of God."
"What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, when I look upon His face; the one who saved me by His grace. When He takes me by the hand and leads me to the promised land, what a day, glorious day that will be."
