Silver is sitting on a large boulder, trying his best to keep the sun out of his eyes as he stares into space and thinks about how much life sucks. So, like, the usual. Upon Mireille's words he turns to contemplate the bread with the oddest look, as if he hasn't decided yet if Mireille isn't just a hallucination.

He wonders if it would be rude to refuse. And thankfully, either way, he doesn't care.

"I'm not hungry," he replies simply, forward without being rude.

isn't it just? unreadability May 3 2010, 11:51:03 UTC
Looking over at him with a slightly questioning look, she leaves the matter be, finishing her own sandwich in silence. She likes it, the silence (and the sandwich too, if she has to say so herself). It’s quite unusual for Mireille, to be able to be in the company of someone and not have to engage in a conversation. No small-talk or unimportant niceties.

She reaches up for the knife, cleaning it carefully in a handkerchief. After all, it’s not just a kitchen accessory anymore. Pausing slightly, she twists the hilt between her fingers. It’s still a foreign mindset for her, to consider it a weapon - something with which to harm and kill.

And for Silver... well, she's so much less annoying than almost every other woman he's ever known. It's almost nice, being like this, enjoying silence and his own thoughts without the constant chattering and giggling he had to put up with from the women back in Paris. He shifts a little to be comfortable on his rather rocky seat, his eyes never leaving her general direction.

He eyes the second sandwich, his always-pragmatic mind thinking that it would not do if it drew any hungry animals - or hungry whatever-creatures-are-around-here.

"You don't need to bring lunch for me, you know."

At the sound of his voice, she fumbles with the knife, only just managing to not cut herself on the blade before getting a hold of the handle safely. Mireille puts the knife down, fixing her gaze on Silver calmly. She could tell him that she didn’t - had he been Jean Louis, she would have and it would have been a half-lie she’d endure for the sake of her pride - but here, now there’s no point.

“It’s easier buying food for two,” she says. Of course she could simply bring food with her from home, but the thought doesn’t please her. There should be no link between the time she spends in the house with Jean Louis and the time she spends here. With Silver.

[ even before they step fully into the house, Silver notices blood on the doorframe. Oh, that's classy decor right there. also, there's a distinct blood-smell wafting out from the house, just enough to be noticeable particularly if you're looking for it. It adds to the blood already clinging to them, a sickeningly coppery smell that surrounds them.

He lets himself inside nevertheless, assuming she'll follow, and sets down his stuff - bloodied and dirtied and all - by the front door. He and Ray aren't exactly the cleanest or tidiest of people (too busy drinking, to be honest) but even he won't trek more blood over his house than is necessary. ]

Ray.

[ said to Ray! Who is there! right? ]

[ Ray has just returned from hunting down the dress, but he pokes his head out from the other room at the sound of Silver's voice. ]

I'm here [ Said as he steps out into the main room. He notices Mirielle and feels a stab of embarrassment at the disheveled state of the house. Not that he cares usually, but having a lady over...]

Come in and wash up. [ He considers the pile coolly. The clothing will have to be washed, and burnt if the blood doesn't come out. No point in leaving evidence you can be traced by, even if such trace is unlikely here. ]

Mirielle, please, we have a bathing room, and I was able to procure something for you to change into...

[She traces after Silver wordlessly, stopping in the doorway as he calls for Ray. The house is smaller than the one she shares with Jean Louis - and positively reeks of the fact that it's two bachelors living there. With a slight smile that doesn't reach her eyes, Mireille meets Ray's gaze.]

Thank you.

[Her muscles are still too stiff and her mind too blank. Trying to keep her face emotionless, she takes the dress Ray is handing her, heading towards the bathroom.]

[ Ray, when did you get all gentleman-ly? For his part, Silver is sort of surreptitiously evaluating Ray in case he actually IS injured and just didn't tell him (aw, he cares) and, apparently satisfied, watches Mireille leave before realising that he, too, should probably change. ]

I'll be back.

[ ducks into one of the rooms to change pants! because ew, bloodstains. That's no way to treat the clothes Ray obviously picked out for him. ;) ]
