Lots of art to share as I finally got the skecthpad and the digital camera home at the same time and found the energy to take photos (and fix said photos) of the pictures themselves. These are all on 9x12 paper, so it won't fit on a scanner. Anyway, here's what we've been working on in art!
Sketch Practice from Books
A very nice Ingres that caught my eye. Much harder than it sould have been. It looks like a cross between Napoleon and George Washington! But I do like the hair and eyes (yes he did have a lazy eye in the original)
A picture by Rubens of his son that reminded me of Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist" that I resolved to draw it. Not really happy with it, but what the heck. It's recognizable, anyway, and the hat will be cool if I ever finish it... :)
A John Singer Sargent that i'm rather proud of. Didn't take very long and nowhere close to finished, but I thought it should go here anyway! I rarely finish drawings... ;)
Live Models
Earliest picture in this set, this is actually a pretty good representation of my art teacher, who probably wouldn't want me to name him here! If I can get his permission, I'll put it on!
Caitlin Brown, cute thing that she is! This isn't great, and it actually isn't on sepia paper (not sure why photoshop did that...) BUt you can tell it's her if you know what she looks like!
Carmen Chambers, though it looks much more like her mother. I have a problem with retaining youth in graphite for some reason. I swear she will look just like this in about twenty years!
Margaret Babington. She has a very boistrous personality and I was in the mood to draw something big, so she ended up going over the page! Best representation of a live model Ive ever done, though! It looks just like her!
Madelyn King. I just felt like drawing smaller after Margaret. She kept moving too! Made it very difficult on us. But I still like it, though it looks more like her on paper than it does here... oh well!
Random Drawings Worthy of This Post
yeah. Totally unproportional. Don't even like this one on paper. Don't know why I put it here. I've come a long way since this....
Okay, here's one I'm really proud of! Drawn from my head, and she has a story behind her. Yes, she's supposed to be dark, myserious and more than a little freaky (and old, that too. She's about 84.) Her name is Moratsy, and she is a witch in a series I have just begun. She was the first character I came up with and it looks just like I pictured her. Needed to get it on paper, and I'm glad I did, no matter how many blank stares I've gotten for it. It deserves to be here!
Yeah. That was fun! I'll have to get some more up here when I draw some more! I have one of the forensics teacher, but I need her permission to post it, and it's on 18x24 so it definately won't scan. I may need a bigger camers! But it's good, so I'll get it on here on way or another when I can!
