trouble with a capital T

So, I made a mistake today... and looked at some lj communities about dying hair >.<

Do you guys remember the shaved head, and the rainbow swirl? and the blond (yuck) and the blue chunk? and the purple chunk? or the blue black? or the blue black with pink?

*sigh*

Heh after shaving my head I was determined to let it grow in naturally.

That didn't last. I got bored of my real color and wanted the red back. :) Ah well.

I've heard that there's so much donated hair that most of it goes to waste anyway, but it's totally your call. I totally LOVED your shaved and rainbow head, but I love your brown locks too! Ooooh!
Ok, maybe it's not good to ask me! :D

Yah it can. Especially if you donate to Locks of Love, because they get so much.

Part of that problem though is people sending in sections that are too short - or hair that is too damaged (heat styling, bleaching, dying, etc)

If I donate I would probably send it to a place in Burnaby that deals with BC Woman's and Children's. It's smaller.

The other option if hair is damaged is a place, I can't remember the name of it, but they make mats that soak up oil spills - think of how greasy hair gets... it's awesome at soaking up that shit. human hair has been one of the most effective tools.

Well, sounds like you know what you're doing. :)

Random thought:
heh. It makes me think of an episode of South Park where they were pimping Hair tampons! *shudder*

I did my research after my last hair incident :)

but I dunno. I may not donate at all. It'd be fun once it's really long to do funky things with it.

you are welcome to come over & mess with my husband's head anytime you like ;)

not to make you homesick, but he's currently got a burgundy mohawk.... as for your real questions, i feel your pain. my compromise has been dyeing my hair, but not bleaching it, & trying to keep the dyeing itself to a minimum. i could never quit entirely.

You heard my rant about this at Christmas - sorry. Yes, I'm still whining ;)

One of my friends who has realllllly long hair just bleaches and dyes one big streak near the front. So it's not *quite* as fun, but also still something. (When she had super short hair, she used to do crazy colors and stuff, too.)

I've thought of that, but you have to be careful - in my opinion - to pick something that will look good contrasted with the natural colour.

I also think maybe I should wait until after I find some work. La.

Well! when you bleach, do you wash it every day?

i have foils done about every 4-5 months, and my hair is great. on the weekends, i don't wash it. i use a shampoo and conditioner that is specifically for colored, bleached hair. during the week i wash it and put it up wet in a clip. Friday night, i blow dry, put in CHI's Iron Guard 44 and flat iron it. Saturday-Sunday i put it up to shower, then put more protector on it and flatten out anything that got some humidity. It feels like silk all weekend.

i dont work outside, so i can't say if it'll work for you, but it might! There are lots of treatments you could do periodically to keep it from getting damaged - maybe try covering it at work?

Heh. I never wash it everyday anymore ;) I shampoo a maximum of 2 a week with conditioner only and/or vinegar/tea rinses in between. and usually my hair only gets wet even ever second day.
When I'm actively working outside, I have to wash everyday though, because otherwise - gross.

When I did bleach it before, I washed everyday, but my hair was always under 6 inches, so damage wasn't a huge issue.

I don't hardly ever heat style, in fact, currently, I don't even own a blowdryer :)

There's several things going on with that though. I try not to use SLS/SLES anymore, because it makes my scalp go crazy. This means I also have to avoids -cones (one fo the things that makes hair feel/look smoother) because other shampoos have trouble washing away the -cones.

for work, I do cover it to an extent, Hats and scarves, etc. But dude, when the wind is blowing at 50km/h and sometimes more that stuff just doesn't stay on.
