How are those nuts, Sarge? They're doing fine, Bill. Nice of you to ask.

So, phew, crisis averted. Walt came through like a knight in shining VAIO armour and Photoshop CS4 is installed and working like a dream. Rejoice.

D'aww, Sgt. Donnie. (NKOTB were before my time too, but finding out about them does make it kind of hard for me to take Lipton quite as seriously as I ought to.)
He and Speirs really are, as has been said before, the mother and father figure of Easy, especially in the later half of the series. (I kind of like your description of Dike as a senile uncle, too.)
And him and Luz are probably, in completely different ways, the heart and soul of Easy when it comes to keeping the guys together and maintaining morale. It's impressive.
Also, those shoulders really are devastating. They make Harry look about half the size.

Finally, I am feeling very jealous of everyone in the UK with satellite right now. There's been so damn much about GK in the Guardian these past couple of weeks and I'm just pissed off that none of the terrestrial channels bought it. If this happens with The Pacific too, I'll probably have to kick something.

MTE, I'm kind of glad that I was too young to really be into them, because Donnie would have totally been ruined for me as Lipton. Seeing pictures of him back then makes me lol endlessly, I just try to think of him as actor Lipton Donnie instead of pseudo-pop star Donnie, hahahaha.

And I cannot BELIEVE that the BBC didn't pick up GK. I'm really cut. Because although I've already seen it, and got the DVDs and everything, it's robbing a vast swathe of the population, because it's the kind of stuff that really deserves a large audience (instead of shit like Strictly Come Dancing or whatever) and it's never going to get that on FX. If you can find another way to see it, you definitely should *cough* illegal methods FTW *cough* ir I guess you could wait until the DVD comes out. And is The Pacific coming out this year? I saw the trailer recently as was all "eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!"

Yeah, I think it's a blessing, 'cause now NKOTB are back together I just can't look at them without cracking up. It's like if Justin Timberlake were in Mad Men, it just doesn't feel quite right.

Also, I was going to watch GK over Christmas but my, ahem, usual methods weren't working. I'll see if anything's been uploaded at Easter, but I'll probably end up waiting for the DVDs.
I have no idea when The Pacific is finally going to come out - I heard 2010 somewhere - but although I've never been all that interested in that side of the war, I'm damn excited about it. (After all, I wasn't interested in paratroopers before BoB...)

I'm really excited about The Pacific, because being Australian it's actually far more relevant to me that BoB or GK was, my grandfather fought in the Pacific and pretty much all of the series was filmed in Australia, and there are even some Aussie actors in it. I'd be really interested to find out which battles they're going to be focusing on.

imdb says it will be released in 2009 - nothing about the UK, though, in that release date :(

Awwwww! And *SNORT*

I think it's fair to say that everybody loves Lip. I do! Actually, for me it's easier to say which BoB guy I don't love than listing all those that I do :)

I love how awesome Harry's half-face looks in the caps just before the Winters fangirling scene from Points. RrrrR.

Also, The Departed is more than fantastic. Have you seen The Yards?

OMG, I love The Departed soooo much. One of my favourite films.

What's The Yards about?

From Wikipedia: The Yards is an American crime film with Mark Wahlberg, James Caan, Joaquin Phoenix, and Charlize Theron, written and directed by James Gray. [...] Leo Handler (Wahlberg) has just been released from prison for a car theft he didn't commit. Looking for a job, he finds his uncle Frank Olchin (Caan) who runs a railway car repair company. Joining on the job, he works with Willie (Phoenix). One night, a night heist goes bad on a rival company and a rail yard supervisor is stabbed and a cop beaten. Leo is fingered as a suspect. He must go on the run and prove his innocence [...]

Wahlberg, Phoenix and Theron (who's Willie's girlfriend but falls in love with Leo) form a great love/hate triangle, it's fantastic to watch. I originally watched it because of Joaquin Phoenix, but Mark Wahlberg is doing an amazing job there. His role is really different from that in The Departed, but I guess those two movies have a similar feel for me.

That totally sounds like a cast I could get behind.

I love Mark and Joaquin, and have had a massive stupid crush on James Caan since The Godfather. And I have a bit of a girlcrush on Charlize. I'll definitely put it on my list!!

If you don't love Lip then you have no soul, trufax.

LMAO Lip = Marge = GENIUS!!!

Almighty pimp walk (for the last time, might I add D:)
Awww, that saddens me, although thanks for now not allowing me to watch teh walk without having 'staying alive' in my head.

Oh, and now I ship Lip/Speirs. DAMN IT, I was doing so well with being oblivious to the all the potential ships.

Btw, I don't have FX so will have to start dloading GK so I don't get epically spoiled.

PIMP WALK MUST HAVE BEE GEES SOUNDTRACK. It's just a fact.

Lip/Speirs FTW. They're so adorable in the few little scenes they have together, and the church scene is so epic: :D

Yay for dloading GK!!! IT IS WORTH IT, omg. You must post about it when you've started watching.

YOU DID LIPTON! This has seriously made my day. I know everybody loves Lip, but I have it pretty bad and the combo of YOU and LIP is sending me over the edge.

You are hilarious! The whole thing with the crayons and the boo-boos and everything. You nailed all his expressions.

- Yes, Lip's adorability is so high that you actually forget sometimes about the serious bod that's under there. Until Points, and then you're like "oh yeah..." So thanks for the shorts pic. ;-D

- In the pimpwalk, I love Lip best cause look how he walks. He takes a long stride and his shoulders are workin. The NKOTB training serves him well here.

- TAB AND LIP! Nothing gets me more sniffly than someone taking care of Lip, instead of the other way around.

- I also love Lipton in Eindhoven, pulling Perconte out of that woman's chest, cause he's so happy his smile is all "Sorry, ma'am."

- I was just saying to somebody that I love the little half-wave that Lip gives everybody after Shifty kills the sniper, because he's wounded and freaked out but he ( ... )

OMG ESSAY RESPONSE ♥

Donnie is totally ripped. You forget it, because Lip is such a softie, but when he's in his PT gear or the singlet at the end, OMG my eyes just pop out of my head...

over time I've come to love the beginning of Last Patrol where Speirs is all irritated that Lip's not in bed with the "clean sheets"

I LOVE THIS SCENE ALSO. It's adorable to see Speirs acting like that with one of his men, because you're not used to him 'caring' persay. It's like when he holds Grant's hand - my heart EXPLODESSSS. Plus this Lip/Speirs scene has lead to so many fics, hahahaha

The scene where Lip gets promoted is fantastic, I love how happy everyone is. And when it's over, you see Speirs totally leading Lip away to, well, you know hahaha I have watched it far too many times :D

And we all know how much I love the Eagle's Nest scene, although I think I did it to death in the Harryspam. It's the BEST SCENE EVER.

But glad you loved this so much!!

Heh. Yeah I literally did write essays -- recaps, really -- over on my journal recently for my LJ friends new(ish) to BoB. So I could go on. 8-)

And when it's over, you see Speirs totally leading Lip away to, well, you know hahaha I have watched it far too many times :D

Yes yes yes! I have this other fandom where there's a very intense and totally canon bromance and there's this one iconic scene: one guy takes the other guy away from a group conversation like that (one hand on each arm, just like Speirs does), and literally says "He's mine." *g*

So that's my "He's mine" moment for Speirs and Lip.

SO I OBVIOUSLY NEED TO KNOW WHAT THIS OTHER FANDOM IS, BECAUSE THAT IS THE KIND OF BROMANCE BEHAVIOUR I CAN GET BEHIND.
