YAAAAAAY. I've been looking forward to this one so much, since the Mortar Boys are my favourites out of all the men (with the officers, obviously, nothing tops Winters, Nixon and Harry). And also because Scott Grimes has EPIC ARMS and Richard Speight Jr is so goddamn cute it should be illegal.

I think your emobeard theory may be right. The saddest episodes are the beardiest ones, and the beardiest of all is Malark, who is also the saddest, until he gets the chance to shave.
I also don't know what this show has for casting smokin' hot redheads for guys who were blonds in real life (Winters and Malark were both blond), but not like I'm complaining. Always had a thing for gingers.

I'm only one episode into GK but it is GLORIOUS. I'd try to compare it to BoB, being a war mini-series on HBO and all, but it's just a completely different vibe. Doesn't make it any less awesome, though!

Readheads and freckles are THE BUSINESS...and as far as am concerned, freckled shoulders are "hardcore porn" :) And am starting to seriously fall for Skippy....the real Skippy was a genuwine dream (like in, "Mr. Sandman, bring me a dreeeeaaaam, bring me the cutest that I've ever seeeeeen...") As usual, yer commentary had me in stitches.
