An RSVP!!

So we got our very first RSVP today! Part of me is all giddy inside because it was so fun to get the little bugger in the mail. The other part of me says it really isn't that big of a deal. I have only sent out 1 invitation so far. We went ahead and sent one to our friends who will be in Ecuador for the next 2 months and we wanted to ( Read more... )

Whoohoo, RSVPs! They make checking the mail such an event. :-) Hm, I have no advice for you on FMIL. I moved in with D without telling her and when she found out, she hit the roof and disowned me (seriously). 5 years later, she's fine with it. See, time heals all wounds! :-P

Ack, I meant my mom hit the roof, not FMIL. I wish LJ had an edit function for comments. FMIL thought D and I slept in separate beds. Heh.

Be honest with his mom, as you plan to be. In the long run she will respect you for your honesty. You're right, she is not dumb! She will figure it out and at least you will be the one looking like an adult, not a child lying about something "bad". Good luck!

How fun that you received your first RSVP! Our started streaming in so quickly once we sent the invitations out. Now they are just trickling in. I think we received about half of them back in about 1 month.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your comments about the books. I will look into getting these books. We have been dealing with the same situation in terms of marriage prep. I tried finding material that we could work on by ourselves.

I have to agree--be honest with your FMIL. I think it makes people angrier when they're lied to, and rightfully so. It's not her decision to make, and it's good to start laying down those boundaries now, rather than try to tiptoe around her beliefs. My mom did that for a long time with her MIL, and it made her (and the rest of us) miserable.....

Good luck! And I'm glad you're here on LJ!

Hi! Followed you here from CJ's LJ. I noticed when I went looking for relationship books that there are TONS of books on how to land the "right" guy, how to get a guy to propose, and how to recover from a cheating partner! But not so many on improving a good relationship...I'll definitely have to check out the 7% book.

Oh--you currently have a 100% response rate! That's great! :)
