Raw Veganism

First of all I am not veagn, well not yet anyhow. I am not even a rawist,yet.....I was just reading more about it and thinking about it. I am veggie, have been for about 10 years. I do my part to recycle and such. But was thinking about how much water is wasted on rinsing recyclables and energy to reuse it. I am not saying recycling and reusing are bad. But just consider this... If you were on a raw vegan food "diet" and didn't eat all the packaged goodies and consumed cans of soda(as I do) or even juices. You would be cutting down so much on waste. I was reading an article in EarthJournal zine and a captain of some ship was in France, he found that quite a large area of sea floor was covered in PLASTIC!
Comepletely covered in plastic debris, garbage runoff and so forth. How fucking terrible! The ocean floor is supposed to be filled w/ life! Not chemicals. So the more I think about the environmental impact the more I am thinking the best thing to do is become raw vegan. What better way to stay healthy and the best possible thing for the environment that any one person could do. You wouldn' t be purchasing plasic bags full of frozen veggies or candies. You woulnd't be wasting water on cleaning out soup cans or juice bottles. You would leave such a lighter footprint on this earth, than anything else you can do. Yes apples and other produce come in plastic bags most of the time. But you could use reuseable bags for some of that stuff as well. And no it is not that easy, i guess. There are always other things to think about as well. Cleaners and detergents and a ton of other things. But I think this would be a very good start to something amazing. NO you cannot do everything, you cannot save every animal or tree or child or whatever. But why not do the MOST that you can do. For to long I figured being veggie was ok enough. The more I read the more I think about it, being veggie, yes does save lots of animals from death. But not torture, not abuse, not cruelty. It saves them from none of that. So in alot of ways i am still supporting things I totally disagree w/. What can I do to make better decisions and be a smater consumer? I have some resources, books, lists of ingredients that are animal based. But what else is out there?hmmmmm
