still need to do -- buy a GSM phone, pick up the travel case rental from Wheelworks, pack my bike, figure out a place to store my gear during the ride as I won't have a hotel booked, train, pack, train, pack.
For what it's worth, I'll be out of town from 15 August to 29 August. Then moving two days later. Life's ... busy. For folks who are interested in following my progress, there's a website where results will be posted as we clear each control point along the route. I'll post details on a friends-locked post.
It's still a little weird to see that it's coming up so soon. I've been thinking about this event for a year.
1 when registering, one of the admins wrote me and said "you put down Filipino-Canadian as your nationality. You must pick one."
"I was born in the Philippines but have Canadian citizenship and have done all of my qualifiers with an American club. What is your recommendation?"
"It should be the nationality on your passport. That is traditional."
"Have any other Filipinos attempted Paris-Brest-Paris? Either as Filipinos or Americans or Australians?"
"I will have to check the records, but I do not believe so. If you wish to be the first, then that is understandable."
"Then say that I am Filipino."
and that is what I am.
