This has been an absolutely hellacious week at work. Talk about the company milking every last drop of your soul and will to live. Thank God I took Monday off because we all had to work on Saturday too. Friday they threw 15 stops on me with 700 cases of drinks and those stops were spread out over 130 miles. It was sceduled as a 15 hour day and I came in at 15.25 hours. I didn't clock out until 9:30PM. I decided to milk it for all it was worth because once I clock out I can't clock back in for another 10 hours. And I can only work a total of 60 hours a week. So that left me with only 8 hours for Saturday and it meant that I couldn't start work on Saturday at 5am like they wanted. Sorry, thems the rules.
So I left a note on Ronni's (Sales and Delivery Manager) door that said, "Thanks to the incredibly long day you scheduled me I will not be able to clock in until 8am tomorrow. At least I got all my stops though." While on my way to work the next day Ronni hits me up on my Nextel which is like a walkie talkie wrapped up in a cell phone. I tell him that I'm on my way in. He asks me for the combination for my padlock on my two-wheeler because someone needs to use it. I asked him what the hell I was going to use. He said that I wouldn't be running my regular route because all of those where all dispatched already. So he would find something else for me to do. He said that he appreciated me getting all my stops and he got my note so it wasn't a problem.
Then he asked me if I could handle driving a 53 foot trailer. I told him, "Uhhhh...I did just come out of a six month stint in the bulk department. So yeah."
He said, "Oh. I didn't know that. That's good, that'll help out alot. We've got a couple of Walmart drops for you to do. One in Clarksville and one in Hendersonville."
I said, "What do you mean you didn't know that? I was told it was your decision to take me out of bulk and put me back in bay. And that it was your decision to wait a week before I started my old route because I couldn't have bulk pay and bay pay in the same week."
"Oh yeah. I forgot about that." How the hell can this guy say that he appreciates all your hard work when he doesn't even know what the fuck you're doing around there? I guess all this time I could've just been clocking in and hiding out in the bathroom for all he pays attention.
Anyway, I get to work and find out that the loads are ready for the Walmart drops except I needed to wait for a truckload of Pepsi 24 packs (cubes) to arrive from Knoxville. So I waited three hours. Remember, I have 8 hours left for the week. After three hours I called Ronni and told him that I was still waiting and that time is running out for me to do two drops. He said, "You should have plenty of time."
"Ronni, look. If you want me to drive to the Clarksville Walmart that's an hour each way. So that's 2 hours drive time and 1.5 hours to get checked in, worst case scenario. So that's 3.5 hours. Then it'll take an hour to get the 2nd truck loaded, get the other Walmart in my computer, update the inventory etc. That's 4.5 hours. Then it's a 30 minute drive each way so that's an hour drive time. So that's 5.5 hours. And another 1 to 1.5 hours to get unloaded and checked in. That's 6.5 to 7 hours. I only have 8 hours for today and I've wasted 3 of them sitting around here waiting."
He just told me to run out the one load to Hendersonville and we'd see how things looked when I got back. Well, low and behold, reality turned out to be correct again and by the time I got done with that one drop I only had 2 hours left. So, sounding a little pissey Ronni told me to clock out when I got back and he and my previous bulk supervisor ran out the load to Clarksville. HAHA! Because you guys couldn't plan your way out of a cardboard box it screwed YOU in the ass. Not me. GOD I can't stand inefficiency like that.
So now I have today and tomorrow off and we'll see what the hell goes wrong next week. I really can't stand this job anymore.
