I had a much longer entry planned and about 3/4s written out, but then I wrote an intro apologizing for the content, which really didn't need apologizing for anyway because there wasn't anything wrong with it, but you (at least a couple of you) know what I'm like, so... And doing so (apologizing in advance) made me feel even more unsure about it,

Awww, thank you. That's the nicest compliment I've gotten in a long time. And... **gives in to the phrase** it means a lot to me.
The recital went rather well. I actually plan on making an entry about it; that means it'll be positive, not about how much I hated myself afterward.
I'll post the lyrics to "Still Hurting". First some background on the musical it's from, The Last Five Years: (Wikipedia's intro to the article about the show, because it's a better description than what I can come with) "The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. The show uses a novel form of storytelling in which Cathy travels backwards in time (beginning the show at the end of the marriage), and Jamie travels forwards (starting with the couple's first date). The songs are presented as soliloquies, except for a wedding song in the middle, where the two characters share a duet. Sometimes the show is performed in such a way that Jamie and Cathy only interact during their wedding."
"Still Hurting" is the first song in the show, and it's sung by Cathy.
Jamie is over and Jamie is gone.
Jamie's decided it's time to move on.
Jamie has new dreams he's building upon,
And I'm still hurting.
Jamie arrived at the end of the line.
Jamie's convinced that the problems are mine.
Jamie is probably feeling just fine,
And I'm still hurting.
What about lies, Jamie?
What about things
That you swore to be true?
What about you, Jamie?
What about you?
Jamie is sure something wonderful died.
Jamie decides it's his right to decide.
Jamie's got secrets he doesn't confide,
And I'm still hurting.
Go and hide and run away!
Run away, run and find something better!
Go and ride the sun away!
Run away, like it's simple,
Like it's right...
Give me a day, Jamie!
Bring back the lies,
Hang them back on the wall!
Maybe I'd see
How you could be
So certain that we
Had no chance at all.
Jamie is over and where can I turn?
Covered with scars I did nothing to earn
Maybe there's somewhere a lesson to learn,
But that wouldn't change the fact,
That wouldn't speed the time,
Once the foundation's cracked
And I'm
Still hurting
Typed out now, they don't seem that outstanding :-/ ... but the way they're sung on the cast recording gives them that depth. Other songs have wittier lyrics. Really. There's no dialogue in the show, so the lyrics are not fluff; they have to carry the show, and they do.
