Japan Trip (3) - Temples and Historical Sojourns

Dec 25, 2012 02:36

Today after a late morning, we decided to check out the historical area of Kyoto. En route, we checked out the shopping area as well.

Think of Bugis Junction, but with a much longer street and then at regular intervals, there are temples too. We believe they built the street around the temples. So it’s cool, u can shop and then pray too!

So I learnt the process to pray is to:
  1. Wash hands with the dragon spit
  2. Throw a coin into the vents
  3. Shake the rope and ring the bell
  4. Clap two times
  5. Pray for ur heart’s desire
  6. And bow!
  7. Tadaaa wish done

They have fascinating coin operated machines that give out ur fortunes too. N I got some amulets for good health for my parents. Maybe need to get wealth for my boss hahaha.

N on our way to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, we went through the historical district, famed for its preserved buildings from the feudal period. You can truly see the heritage of Japan through the buildings and temples located there.

It really has a lot of character, makes me feel like I’m walking through a movie set. Soooo beautiful!
