Summary: Six angels are banished from heaven to live on Earth. They can't be angels but they're not quite human either and so they have to struggle to fit in. In a world they've only observed from a distance they have to manage as the boy band KAT-TUN.

It was one of those rare days when all six of them had the day off and they decided to go on a trip to a beach nearby. They’d already been human for a year but they’d never been able to see the ocean up close. They rented a minibus and headed to the sea with excited smiles on their faces.

“Hey, do you want to play a car game?” Junno asked.

“Sure”, Jin said. “Like what?”

Junno looked thoughtful for a moment before he said, “I don’t actually know any car games.”

Jin slapped Junno who, for some reason, was seated next to him; they should’ve learned to never let the two of them sit next to each other. The four others scolded themselves as they had to listen to Jin and Junno’s arguing. Or more like Jin’s arguing and Junno’s cheery comments.

“How long until we get to the beach?” Koki asked Kazuya who was driving.

“At least 30 minutes”, Kazuya replied and Koki groaned and rested his head on Yuichi’s shoulder.

Tatsuya was the only one in the car resting peacefully; he was in the passenger seat in the front and he had a headset that filled his ears with calming music. Kazuya glanced at him enviously and wished that Jin would just shut up.

“Jin”, Kazuya called out in a sweet voice and immediately got the other’s attention. “If you want to sleep in the same bed as me ever again, you will shut up now.”

It worked like a charm and Jin was silent for the rest of the drive while Junno teased him by saying terrible puns that made Jin want to scream at him. But Jin had learnt to take Kazuya’s threats seriously; they weren’t to play with.

When they finally arrived at the beach, they all rushed out of the car to take deep breaths of the sea air and Jin made a face.

“It smells kind of funny”, he said and Kazuya rolled his eyes.

“I think that it smells great”, Yuichi said. “It’s completely different from the toxic city air.”

“I agree with Yu-chan”, Koki said and wrapped an arm around Yuichi’s waist; it was a private beach that belonged to one of their friends at the Jimusho so they didn’t have to worry about prying eyes.

“That’s new”, Jin muttered sarcastically and earned a glare from Koki.

“Let’s not fight today”, Yuichi said and smiled at Jin. “This is a rare chance for us, after all.”

“Fine”, Jin sighed and followed Kazuya who had walked down to the water to dip his feet.

“It’s cold”, Kazuya shivered and Jin wrapped his arms around Kazuya’s waist from behind.

“It takes a little more time to warm all of the water in the sea than it takes to warm the water in a bathtub”, Jin said and chuckled.

The two of them were startled when Junno came running past them, straight into the water which made cool droplets wash all over them.

“Taguchi”, Jin said angrily but Junno wasn’t listening, he was already swimming far out from the shore.

“Don’t swim too far!” Tatsuya shouted after him. “We may be immortal but I don’t want to have to search for you on the bottom of the sea.”

Koki and Yuichi had spread out a blanket on the sand and they sat on it close together, snuggling. Yuichi sat in between Koki’s legs and rested his head on the other’s chest. They were wearing swimming shorts and sunglasses and they were basking in the sunlight.

Tatsuya sat in the sand, right by the water, and let the waves wash over his feet. He was keeping an eye on Junno while quietly humming to himself and allowing a tiny smile to show on his face.

Jin and Kazuya were walking hand in hand on the shoreline, squealing and laughing when the cold water washed over their legs. They were happier and more relaxed than they had been in a long time. The past year had been filled with so many changes and so much work that they’d barely been able to catch their breaths.

All six of them had longed for this day when they’d first heard that they would get a break. Being human was totally different from being an angel. When they were angels they never got tired or hungry and they always felt rested. They didn’t have all of the different emotions that swirled inside of them now.

Tatsuya reflected on how all of them had changed a lot since they began their lives on earth. Kazuya was less uptight and he no longer had the urge to make everything perfect. Jin… was still pretty much the same, Tatsuya had to admit, but the former angel of passion sometimes showed that he had more depth than they’d known he had when they were in heaven.

Yuichi and Koki were also pretty much the same but Yuichi was less shy and Koki had learnt that too much jewellery was a disturbance when having to undress fast. Tatsuya would rather not think about how he knew that fact about Koki.

Junno was still the same obnoxiously smiling man with terrible puns but Tatsuya thought that his puns might’ve actually improved since he was the angel of comedy which was kind of strange. Tatsuya no longer took things so seriously and he could laugh at himself and make jokes.

All in all, they were better now than they had been when they were angels. They’d all been more or less devastated about the fact that they couldn’t stay in heaven but now Tatsuya wasn’t sure if any of them would want to go back if they were given the opportunity.

“We’re hungry now”, Jin shouted as he and Kazuya walked back to the place where Yuichi and Koki were sitting.

“Let’s eat”, Kazuya told Tatsuya. “Tell Junno to come back.”

“He’s already on his way back”, Tatsuya said with a mysterious smile and Kazuya blinked but then he shrugged and sat down on the blanket next to Jin who was making faces at Koki and Yuichi’s displays of affection.

Junno and Tatsuya joined them after a few minutes and Junno shook his head which caused water to fly everywhere and Jin started chasing Junno across the beach, yelling angrily.

“Let’s start without them”, Kazuya said calmly and handed out sandwiches neatly wrapped in plastic. “Jin will soon realise how hungry he is.”

Just as Kazuya had said, Jin came back a few moments later muttering about what an idiot Junno was. He sat down beside Kazuya and accepted the sandwich the smaller man handed him. Junno also came back and plopped down beside Tatsuya, eagerly reaching for a sandwich but Jin slapped his hand away.

“Jin, remember what I said back in the car”, Kazuya said. “That threat also stands if you’re mean to Junno in any way.”

Jin sighed and handed Junno a sandwich which the tall man accepted with a sunny smile. The six of them actually managed to have a civilised conversation which didn’t involve a pissed off Jin and a glaring Tatsuya.

“This day has been wonderful”, Yuichi said when they were in the car on their way back home.

This time Jin was driving so that he wouldn’t have the chance to argue with Junno.

“It really has”, Koki agreed and smiled at Yuichi while squeezing his hand.

Jin made gagging noises and Kazuya slapped his thigh lightly, “Behave”, the smaller man warned and Jin smiled sheepishly.

“Sorry, I couldn’t help it”, he said.

“You’re just as romantic and sappy as they are, Jin”, Tatsuya said, “If not even more.”

“No, I’m not”, Jin protested. “I’m wild and passionate, not lame and sappy!”

“Keep telling yourself that”, Kazuya said with an amused smile and let his hand rest on Jin’s thigh. “Maybe someday you’ll actually believe it.”

Jin pouted and looked out through the windscreen with a gloomy expression on his face, “You’re all against me.”

“That’s what you get for teasing us all the time”, Koki said.

“But it’s fun to tease you!”

“It’s just as much fun to tease you”, Tatsuya said with a sadistic grin and Jin could almost see it even though his eyes were on the road and he shuddered.

“Fine”, he muttered. “I’ll try to behave from now on.”

The others smiled; they knew that he’d soon be making fun of everyone again, that was just who he was.

When they got back home to the apartment, they all fell in an exhausted pile on the huge couch and groaned.

“Who knew that having a day off could be so exhausting”, Koki said and pushed away Junno’s foot that was poking his ear.

“I think I swam too much”, Junno said but he had a contented smile on his face. “And I was chased too much.”

“That was completely your own fault”, Jin said and leaned his head on Kazuya’s chest. “You kept pissing me off.”

“When doesn’t he piss you off?” Yuichi asked. “You should take anger management classes or something.”

“Be careful, Yu-chan”, Koki said. “He might get pissed off at you too!”

“Very funny”, Jin drawled. “I think I might laugh to death.”

The other five chuckled and Jin hid his face in his hands; he didn’t know when he’d become the most popular victim for the group’s teasing. He should just shut up from now on… not that he actually thought that he’d succeed with that. Everyone was silent for awhile and peace settled in the apartment.

“Taguchi, stop poking your foot into my ear”, Koki’s voice broke the silence and Junno crashed down on the floor.

“Sorry”, Junno said and tried nothing to get up from his new position on the floor.

Tatsuya unengaged his limbs from the four other’s and he slid down on the floor to lay sprawled over Junno. The four others managed to couple up with their partner and now had a lot of space to cuddle.

“Maybe we should go to bed”, Yuichi suggested after awhile and the others made agreeing sounds but no one actually moved.

“All the fresh air made me sleepy”, Jin said and buried his face in the crook of Kazuya’s neck.

“I thought that you said that it smelled funny”, Kazuya said and giggled a bit as Jin’s breath was tickling him.

“Yeah but it was still fresh air supposedly”, Jin mumbled and pressed a kiss on the side of Kazuya’s neck.

They’d all almost fallen asleep when someone rang the doorbell.

“Who could it be at this hour?” Koki groaned.

“Someone should go and open the door”, Junno said.

“Fine, I’ll go”, Tatsuya said and got up, stumbling towards the door; he got the shock of his life when he opened it and saw who stood outside. “What are you doing here?”
