Why I won't leave Korea til Tuesday

It's the first weekend of my vacation. There's no palm trees, no shorts, no smiling tourists.
There's no beach, no thai temples or thai food anywhere in sight.
WHY?
BECAUSE....
I'm typing this entry from scenic, sparkling seoul and I'm looking forward to having to fork over
several hundreds of dollars to salvage to my trip as I type.
WHY?
Well, kids life words in mysterious ways. Perhaps, I was a little too happy to leave the land of the rising crap.
Perhaps, my co-ts put some strange waygook curse on me. Or perhaps, my jewiness caught up with me at the worst possible time.
If you guessed reason three you are spot on as my cheap jewiness DID in fact do me in this weekend.
The story....(flashback sequence begins now)
The night before my big flight. I decided to save a few bucks and a mess and prepare my own meal. I decided I'd make a tuna sandwich. So, I bought some cheese from E-mart (ok), some bread (still ok), and then I realized I was missing the key ingredient! The most necessary of necessaries! Tuna.
Well, normally the convienience stores here are as good as grocery stores so I decided to get some tuna from
the store I normally go to. Then, a few hours after eating the sandwich something wasn't right. In fact, it was quite wrong. I tried pepto. I tried peppermint tea. And then when Tim got in around 10pm, the vomiting began.
At first, I thought, okay, no problem, one vomit, I'll clean up. Be ready to leave Seoul at 4am like planned.
Well, one vomit turned into 6 vomits and diarrea and by the time it was 4am. I could barely move.
So, Tim took me to the hospital (which is always fun in a country where English is not the first language) and we found out I had an inflamed stomach (gastrovitis). So, we went to the pharmacy, bought the meds, and I spent the last two days in a haze of drugs and sleep.
The high points being Tim Chi was wonderful and downloaded Zardoz as well as bought some videos for us to watch. The other point was I finally got my birthday present from him "The Golden Compass series!" YAY!

In a way, it was nice to be with Tim Chi two extra days so I guess in some ways it was ok.
However, I will never eat canned tuna in Korea again before a major flight and have learned the hard way that cheap doesn't always pay. ; )
