my housemates have been watching a cantodrama called
ghetto justice which i've kinda been tuning into every now and then. at first i thought the title was meant to be funny -- it's about lawyers, and some of their techniques are pretty fucking ghetto -- but eventually i realized it's meant to be serious. it's about lawyers primarily based in the sham shui po area in HK. apparently this area is a ghetto. i guess it is; i never really noticed it since i only ever go to SSP for the queer film festival.
like pretty much every cantodrama i've seen, it's full of excessive moralizing. (what is it with every arc needing a moral lesson? there's always a character who will eventually get on his/her soapbox and preach to some adult who nods like they're a three-year-old who never knew that it's bad to bully others.) i'm getting sucked into it though because the drama is delicious. ALSO HRRRRGHHHH THAT ONE GUY. i don't know his name, only that his name reminds me of turnips. i call him godot though, because HE IS BASICALLY GODOT. every time his face appears on screen he's acting totally chill and nonplussed. he's usually doing this lazy sexy smile and sexy music starts playing. he's like godot except with the epicness of miles edgeworth and the goofiness of dick gumshoe. he's one of those guys who's never lost a case, which i personally see as a challenge because i'd love to see someone get in there and break his perfect win record.
... man i miss ace attorney. ;__; when is the next... like, anything... coming out in english? i need more of that and stuff like ghost trick in my life.
(finally, finally downloading hotel dusk. i am so lazy, forgive me.)
