(no subject)
i'm trying not to be mad for (for, not at) the housemate but it's hard. he's weirdly complacent about the whole thing. they called him in for three interviews (two of which were practical, so first he cut my hair and then he cut the boss' sister's) and then gave him the job. he worked for a day and was meant to get cash in hand but he didn't (the boss said she'd pay him as part of the next month's salary). then he got a call the next day from the boss' spouse saying that they had to lay him off because they didn't have enough to pay him.
bryan was upset before but is now weirdly okay with this. i completely don't get it. he's spent about 5-7 hours in interviews for that fucking company. that's essentially a whole day of work, unpaid, and the boss' sister got a free haircut out of it. he's also done another day of work which they said they'd pay him for but then didn't. he was working for his uncle before so quitting his previous job wasn't that big of a deal; but if it were me, i'd be absolutely furious at them for offering me a job and then firing me the next day just because they didn't have enough to pay me. if they don't have enough money to pay for a qualified hairdresser, they shouldn't have advertised for a qualified hairdresser, and really, how dare they fuck around like this. if it were me, i'd be calling them up and (politely) asking them if they realize how much time of mine they've spent, do they realize that i'd now be out of work because i quit my previous job thinking that i have found new employment and why did they advertise for a qualified hairdresser if they didn't have the money to pay for one. i've told bryan that he should call them up and at least ask them to pay him for the day that he worked (i think that's extremely fair and that they would actually do it, since it's what was promised to him), but he doesn't want to do that. it's a good $80 that he's letting slide. i'd totally demand it back from the company even if it was only $10. it's the principle of the thing. you can't just dick around and waste people's time like that. we have better things to do than get jerked around by jackasses who clearly don't know how to run a business.
