/WELCOMES SELF BACK TO CIVILIZATION

today, i ran about like a headless chicken, got drenched down to my underwear in the rain, sloshed through giant swampy puddles on paako, but--

i switched from telstra to iinet, and--

I. AM. RAPT.

we now have internet for the whole house. the internet is so RIDICULOUSLY quick-- this, after i've been cussing a blue streak because telstra kept refusing to connect me to the internet, and pages would take so long to load that i'd click a link, go out, watch TV, and come back to find it only 80% done. (this is BROADBAND too, mind.) iinet customer service was amazing, and put up with me sounding annoyed and harrassed 'cause i was dripping wet from the rain and upset 'cause my telstra connection (which i initially needed to read iinet's email) was so atrocious.

the thing i find so amusing about this is that telstra has really been going the extra mile, i think, to entice customers back to them. they're the biggest broadband provider in australia, but customers are fleeing in the masses and i think they realize it. they have an absolutely ridiculous ad on TV about how they love helping customers-- which is complete bullshit because earlier this year, when they were charging me $2000 for a bill, they dicked around for a month or so, passing me back and forth between departments, and making my poor friends (thank you so much, counterattack and tomatoshoes ♥) have to put up with my stress-induced hysteria. they actually sent a salesperson to my house the other day as well, to try and sign me into some 2-year contract-- i was as polite as i could be, but my answer was basically LOL FUCK NO.

anyway, internet is fabulous. so all i need to do now is call up telstra and cancel my account with them. hopefully they won't give me bullshit! my phone (three) also runs on telstra coverage, which is ridiculous right now, so... lol, i can't call. neither can my housemate. we currently have zero reception in the house. during dinner, we kept joking about making sure neither of us start having some sort of allergic reaction, 'cause if we do, we literally cannot call an ambulance.

computer stuff that i don't get, telecoms, isps, telstra, iinet
