What a Year for a New Year

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
drank coffee, met a mormon, rode on a plane, left the US, knit, attended a major league baseball game, saw real museums

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make them...ever.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but a lot of my cousin's got pregnant.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
my cat

5. What countries did you visit?
france

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
the ability to be a morning person

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 28th-first time I flew
July 4th-works in portland
July 11th-the worst and best feelings of my life all in one day
July 14th-works in Paris
October 9th-meeting my second family

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Keeping strong relationships with the people I care about and making some incredible new friends.
It's rather scary and exciting that the friendships we form now are likely the ones we'll rely on forever.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Still being unsure and insecure about my future. Yeah...not enough personal discovery.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, I never get sick.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A hammock maybe, a lot of music, my iPod..even though it was a gift.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Ashley Wollam. I admire that kid more and more everyday.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A lot of people actually...myself included.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Travel, concerts, both combined.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Traveling everywhere: Pittsburg, Boston, Maine, France, Cleveland, Miami, Killy City even.

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
I'll get back to you. Maybe: Bitches Ain't Shit

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or Sadder?: happier probably
ii. Thinner or Fatter than last year?: About the same I assume.
iii. Richer or Poorer? I literally can't remember life a year ago. Poorer probably.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Deep thinking, keeping in touch, crafts.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Spending money, sleeping, procrastinating.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it with my family unwrapping gifts and eating and then at Jess's house watching Night of the Living Dead.

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Ha. No. And I won't in 2006 either.

23. How many one-night stands? Zero

24. What was your favorite TV program? The Daily Show and Nip/Tuck

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, but I've lost a lot of respect for people.

26. What was the best book you read?
Harry Potter 6. I'm lame. Anything Robert Sabuda.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
That's a really tough call. Regina Spektor probably.

28. What did you want and get?
An iPod, a passport, a coffee machine! About a million things; it was a good year.

29. What did you want and not get?
No comment.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
The Chronicles of Narnia, Star Wars III, Batman Begins, Sin City. Some surprisingly good movies this year.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 20. I woke up in France and fell asleep in my own bed. I had a chocolate gateau waiting for me when I awoke from Ben and Peet. There was a bomb threat at Charles de Gaulle. I watched the Love Boat on the plane ride home. My first phone message was from Seabright wishing me a happy birthday at the layover at Logan. When I came down the escalators at home, my family was waiting for me with a birthday cake.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
What I wanted and didn't get...oh, and feeling bright and chipper in the mornings.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Coming into it's own. Quirky/Normal. Sophisticated/Youthful. Always paradoxical.

34. What kept you sane?
Friends, writing, getting away.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hayden Christensen. The Weasley Twins.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
A woman's right to choose. Gay rights. The war.

37. Who did you miss?
A lot of people, Rhea Kappa comes to mind. Katelynn Cooley and Samantha Davis. The Morm. Ben and Greg.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
The Morm...followed by, the Cleveland kids, The French Kids, the Boston/Portland kids, some new kill city kids.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005?
For as much as you voice your opinions, you can lend voice to your feelings too.
And and...being who you are without losing sight of who you're becoming is hard.
Those sound cliche but they're pretty true.
