Rant anyone?
I don't usually do this.....ok, I don't mean ranting, coz I do that a lot :-P I mean talk about politics, but this post is going to be a little political. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, and tell me off if you like. There is a chance I may offend, but I'm happy to hear any comments, just don't call me names, that's getting personal and it isn't necessary. In saying that, I'm pretty sure I know my flist well enough that there won't be any name calling *hugs to all, just in case*
This is a little late and my feelings have since subsided a little over the weekend. I just about got into a big fight with hubby over this. For those of you that don't know or forgot, hubby is an American. A Republician American O_o yes, somehow I managed to marry not only a Republician, but also one of the few Americans that don't believe in Valentines (Imagine my disappointment on our first Valenines Day....) Anyway, we got into a conversation (after a couple drinks, not a good idea I should add) about the government shutdown in the States. I expressed how disgusted and pissed off I was that this could happen. I know it doesn't affect me personally, but this sort of behaviour always gets me fired up. I couldn't believe that just because a few rich assholes couldn't/wouldn't reach an agreement some hardworking Americans weren't going to get paid!! How is this right? How the hell could this happen? He tried to explain to me about the "Constitution" and the "Declaration of Indepence" and all that, and he defended it to the hilt! He said that that's the way a proper democracy works and that's how the forefathers intended it to work, so one party or person can't put themselves above anyone else. My response; "That was over two hundred years ago!! This isn't right and maybe there needs to be a change!" When I said how unfair it was that the rich assholes were still getting paid he told me it was because they were "Necessary" O_o Tell that to the poor bastards who are living paypacket to paypacket! If that happened to us we would be completely screwed! Of course, it's Obama's fault!!! Anyway, I'd like to say we reached an agreement, but it was more an agreement that we're never going to agree so we'll never talk about it any more :-/ Since then of course, the American government have agreed to backpay the 800 thousand that are currently not getting paid. It's something, but still, it's not going to help while they're in it. How bout the rich assholes use their pay to help the 800 thousand. Now that's more of a solution!
Ok, political rant over. I was going to say something about the horrible things happening in Syria, but I think the Shutdown is enough for now.
In much better and completely awesome news, only a day a bit to go for Supernatural season 9!!!!
