DC was awesome
Back from DC and had a blast. The Flogging Molly show was as cool as expected. If you are going to the show, be sure to get there for the opening acts. They are touring with a group called Dead Pets who will rock your socks off. Old school Brit punk with horns. It was almost if the Young Ones had started a band. Friggin awesome.
Now the amusing side story.... We had scored good spots on the 3rd tier (really sorta the second and half) that was in front of the bar, but noone could block our view and it was a faily small place so could still see everything. Well, I ran to the bathroom during the Dead Pets, I come back and this guy is all in my spot and being kinda obnoxious, so I actually got agressive and elbowed my way back in front of him. (really, I wasn't even gone a half a song.) We keep rocking and enjoying the show. Became friends with the chicks next to us who were very very cool. Then Floggin comes on. My jaw hits the floor, M and B(the chickie next to me) both start cracking up. YEP, the guy I elbowed out of my way was the guitarist for Floggin. I was so torn between "wow, I finally assert myself and see what happens" and "holy shit that's funny!"
Anyhoo, Floggin rocked the hell out of DC and it was a great show.
DC was great. I can't wait to get back. We only had time to do a bit of the Mall but everybody we met was super friendly and helpful. Love our hotel, downtown DC, 2 blocks from the Mall, $89 a night minus 10% for military. And only $10 a day parking. Gotta love that!
