Weekend at Home!

I got to take a much-needed rest/refueling break at home, where I got a chance to both stock up on paper towels and read my latest swap club book. Also, I was mad productive and cleaned both the kitchen and the two upstairs bathrooms, as well as got six boxes of junk cleared out of the basement. Dinner tonight was had at Rio's Brazilian Steakhouse in honor of Dad's birthday. There was lots of meat and a cute Brazilian waiter who is in love with my mom. :D

The not-so-good, honestly crappy party? My grandfather is in the hospital again, this time from congestive heart failure. Last Christmas, he caught pnuemonia and suffered for a couple of days before he went to the hospital. Since then, he's been wheezing so much and has a hard time getting his breath after doing ANYTHING, even bending down to pick something up. At this point, it's best if he goes into assisted living. He'll be a couple of weeks in the same rehab community before he goes in, and thankfully it will be the same assisted living facility that Nana is in, so there will be somebody he knows. And it's in the same town he lives in, so he really won't be going too far.

His house is going to be in some kind of weird limbo for a while--Mom even admitted that it will take years to sort everything out--as everything is going on. I actually wouldn't mind living in it, but we'll see what happens. It feels odd enough with a new family living in Nana's house, so I don't know what I would do with strangers living in the house my father grew up in.

I'm worried about what will happen, but I'm consciously not trying to think about it. I'll be home for spring break in two weeks, and then on Easter weekend before getting home for the summer in mid-May, so I'll try to see him during those times.
