Halloween! One of the best adult holidays. Easter loses its spark when you don't get a basket full of chocolate. Christmas becomes a little less fun when you start asking for practical gifts out of necessity, not to mention worrying about money for gifts for other people. But Halloween, Like St. Patrick's Day, only seems to become more fun when you grow up.
This year, I'm dressing up as a 1960s secretary, complete with cardigan, glasses, and pearls. It's classy, sexy, but not skanky, and relatively original. It's pretty kick ass, considering that I only started putting it together yesterday evening. I had a lucky break at Value Village, and found a very sixties-ish, like-new dress for twelve bucks. The glasses, however, I could only find at Claire's, and so they weren't particularly cheap. Still, I'm pretty happy with it.
Unfortunately, I work Saturday nights from 6-9pm, so here I am, at the deserted library on Halloween night. Still, there will be plenty of time for revelry after I get off work. The plan is to find my friends, who will most likely be at our favorite bar, Pete's Place. From there, we'll probably either go to a house party, or head on over to the fraternity Halloween party, just for old time's sake. The Boy is going as a pirate, because he found a huge sword, and immediately became enamored with it (anyone see an innuendo here?). If we'd have thought a head of time, he could have gone as a businessman, and I as his secretary, but it's probably a bad idea to wear a nice suit to a place people are drinking heavily. Bad news bears.
Happy Halloween, Guys!
