As some of you know, I love a well dressed man. I don't demand it all the time or anything, but to me dressing well is one of the symbols of true civilization. I view sweatpants as something to only be worn at home, and increasingly believe that people should at least try to put effort into what they wear in public, which is apparently the opposite of what current American society seems to believe. Anyway, I didn't get on here to rant about the dumbing down of the American mode of dress, but rather to draw some attention to an excellent magazine: Classic Style. It is published by Michael Key who also runs fedorlounge.com. The summer issue is still on the news stands and has several excellent articles, including a piece on Portland that has information on several of my favorite places to eat and also on John Helmer's haberdashery...anyone who likes a good hat should go to Portland RIGHT NOW and buy hats from John and his family. They carry the top of the line in hats, plus some absolutely fun whimsical hats (if you need a propeller beanie, they have them there). Another article in that magazine talks about Argyle socks, and how they came to be, including information about how they were initially particular to the Campbell clan of Argyll and then spread throughout Scotland, and why they exist in the first place (good camo). The only negative thing that I have to say about the magazine is that the Argyle sock article is rather redundant.
