My Microeconomics book that I bought for my summer class was $180. And the class was only 6 weeks long. I work at the bookstore and people are always complaining to me about the prices. Dude, I have to pay for it too!
Blame the publishers who love to jack up prices because oh look! There's a CD in here. Add another $50 on there.
And it doesn't help that our college bookstore's book supplier also does a 30% mark-up. I'm aware that it's one of those unfortunate fundamental truths of attending college, but it still sucks like Hoover. *pouty face*
I feel your pain. If I had got all my books at school, brand new, it would have cost me about $400. I lucked out and got most of my books for my Japanese class from an online bookstore and only had to buy two new books. I still spent quite a chunk of money, at least $300, but I'm going to try the online bookstore again next semester.
