Where I Started Where I am Now
15 years agoI moved to NH
a Massachuetts implant
Fish out of water
Brown eyed girl
in a cozy little country town
I must admit there were snobs all around
but I tried to avoid them
and keep my friends close
All those Abercrombie model wannabes
who I compared myself too constantly
looking back I wonder
why I did that so often
Only true beauty lies with in
Several years later
I am no longer a wall flower
on the outskirts of love
I have found someone amazing
I am 26
still the same person
though experiences in my life
have certainly made me stronger
From a town where
there is no social scene
to a place where there so much
to do
I am rejeuvanted
Never felt so alive.
I should note that Christy Emmond
christabell is an amazing writer. I really have always admired her writing and how she captures emotions in her poetry. I tried to model this poem after her piece An Existence which can be found at her allpoetry page. I am not sure how well I did with modeling her poem but at least I made an effort to do so.. Anyway this poem is basically about how much I have matured since I graduated high school eight years ago. I have been definitley shaped by all the people I have met along the way and experienes that I have had. I moved to Nashua in May and I love it so much more then Amherst. It is still my goal to eventually live in Portsmouth but Nashua is a lovely starting off point.
