I just don't understand how people think they can call themselves christians just because they believe in God. It's sad to think so many people think they are saved just because they said a scripted prayer. They don't go to church, don't read their bibles (if they even own one), and don't live their lives to glorify God at all...Why do people think ( Read more... )

...don't live their lives to glorify God at all...

Harsh as it may sound, no one can be saved and not "glorify God at all." A true Christian will take up their cross and follow Christ (Mark 8:34). That is the mark of a Christian: one who follows in Jesus footsteps--though, obviously, not perfectly.

You're right. We need to use righteous judgment--starting with ourselves--and look for "fruits meet for repentance." We'll know them "by their fruits," Jesus said, and that implies a need for objective judgment.

Not everyone that goes to church is a christian, just like not everyone who doesn't go to church is not a christian. But yes i understand where you are coming from....Just because someone say's they're a believer doesn't nessacaly mean their a follower....

I agree, church does not define us, but it is important.

We can talk the talk. But can we walk the walk?

Being a christian is not just about stating it openly it's about showing it.

I myself for many years contiuned to call myself a believer. Yet i drank and smoked and was angry with God. It wasen't untill i was 12 that i relized the difference between believing and Following. I believed in God, but i didn't follow him. I openly told many about his name only to reject it myself. i knew him...but i didn't...

Hrmm.. In my opinion Organized religion is lame and corrupt. any of them. Just a way to control masses. If you take a look from an outside point of veiw anyone would see this. Weither God exists is a whole 'nother discussion. but to me religion is supposed to be a way of getting through the hard times alittle easier than you would normally, Hence you have big brother God. in my opinion as long as you live and do the right thing as much as you can and try to correct your mistakes you'll be fine. but hey.. based on Christianity im destined for Hell.

P.S. something I thought funny was when last night when I thought about how the asian population must be fairly large in Hell >_<.

Well, I would have to disagree with you to an extent Tom. some christianity has become corrupted, but not all of it. I've seen it from the outside. I spent the first 16 years of my life looking at it from the outside. Not all of it is what it seems. The outside resources are just as bias as the inside resources. Remember, there are no brute facts; all facts are interpreted within a context or philosophy of fact. But, I do understand where you are coming from. A lot of people are not living out what they say they believe..and they misrepresent christianity. I myself am even ashamed at the jokes I make or the way I act sometimes. I apologize if I myself have been a bad example to you. It's something we have to work at with the help of God's grace of course. The people I am talking about though are those who just claim to be christians but don't even understand what they are claiming. Think about this: People don't counterfeit pennies. =P ( ... )
